Americans Enter Gun Buying Frenzy

Submitted by sverdlow

Gun stores across the United States are struggling to process a rapidly increasing volume of firearm purchases from Americans who worry than an Obama-Biden administration will make new purchases of firearms and ammunition difficult or impossible.

The new administration has floated several proposals for infringing the right of the American people to keep and bear arms. These proposals include limitations on styles and designs of firearms, limitations on where these firearms can be manufactured, onerous reporting requirements for firearms possession, and prosecutions against private citizens who use firearms in self defense. They have also discussed proposals to tax ammunition to the point that the average American citizen would not be able to practice enough to maintain proficiency with his or her firearms.

Critics of the Obama administration argue that these restrictions on the Constitutional rights of Americans are designed to weaken Obama's political opposition. These critics are worried by statements President elect Obama has made regarding his plans to keep the presidency for 10 years, a violation of the 22nd Amendment.

Supporters of president elect Obama respond that these limitations to the freedoms of average Americans are a necessary response to the difficult economic times caused by George W. Bush. They believe that Americans must be disarmed to prevent potential violence which may occur before the Obama administration has time to bring peace and fairness to all America through the redistribution of wealth.

Even before the election, mandatory federal background checks for firearm purchases had increased over 15% from the October 2007 numbers. Numbers for November are not yet available, but reports from dozens of gun stores point to a massive number of purchases -- many from first-time gun owners.

President elect Obama will be sworn into office on the 20th of January. After that time he will be able to issue executive orders to limit the rights of American citizens. Until that date, gun stores across America will be packed with concerned citizens.

If someone who is fried and dead set on eliminating someone; I've seen some guys so good with a bow that puts gun owners to shame; I read where a scorned woman ran over her ex with a car over and over again; someone knocked a guy over the head with a blunt intrument and then set the house on fire (torched it). Fertilizer bombs (Tim McVay), the Uni-bomber (pipe bombs); a good machinist can make a gun. The only thing about gun control is dis-arming the innocent, those who obey the laws, others will get them one way or another.
