The Words of a Simple Man from A to ZSubmitted by News & Experts Tue, 28 Apr 2009
By his own admission, Bertie Hall is a simple man.
He believes people should keep their word, that government should take care of people and that marriage should begin with a singular, magnetic, romantic connection. Hall's The Words of a Simple Man from A to Z from Xlibris Corporation (www.wordsofbertie.com) presents a plainspoken view of the world in an interesting and quirky manner. Each chapter is based on a letter of the alphabet and is divided into three parts, underscoring his view that many of life's more difficult problems have simple solutions. For example, Hall has very clear ideas on how to begin a business and on saving for "Mr. Rainy Day". He gives such details as hiring an experienced financial advisor and getting the necessary licenses and paperwork filed. He shares that one should expect to make mistakes and that "true success sometimes comes about by learning from other's mistakes." Hall's book covers, in alphabetical order, such topics as: • Church • Crime • Immigration • Knowledge • Kids "Always be a person of your word," he says sagely, underscoring the idea that the cornerstone of a society is the integrity of its population. In addition, he advocates change in government and thinks the judicial system is in need of radical reform. He imparts his opinion of how each of these issues can be renovated and restored to the original view of our founding fathers. Hall also proclaims his "simple philosophy of a government that works" "A government should take unlimited care of its citizens," he writes. "Unemployment should not exceed three percent; there should be no more that one percent of its population being illiterate. People should be able to move around freely without the fear of any sort of crime, and in security, cost of living should be affordable for all. Education should be affordable for all, health care should be affordable for all, and the environment should not be on the back burner." He has a romantic view of love and marriage, demonstrated when he describes the chemistry he felt when he met his wife. "Most of the time when this happens there's a shyness, nervousness, and lack of words as if that person takes your breath away," Hall writes. "Despite how eloquent and brave one may be, one can in some way tell themselves immediately that that person will be their lifelong partner." In the last chapter of his book, Hall shows just how unusual his point of view can be by turning an usually negative word into a positive one: zero. "The bright side of zero are the following: zero tolerance of crime, zero losses of lives as a result of accidents, zero signs of diseases and sickness as a result of the outbreak of contaminated substances, zero loss of jobs although the business had a very bad year financially, zero incidents at the parties and celebrations, zero problems over a journey," he says.
