Are You Like A Caterpillar – In Need of Change?

Submitted by jkhbraveheart

Until I changed my life around, I was once one of the worst worry worms I knew, holding onto every negative experience from my past. Playing depressing scenarios over and over again in my mind until it felt like there was no escape. Expecting the worst of things to happen, was a bad habit that needed breaking.

Do any of the following scenarios sound familiar to you?

"I'm very worried this morning," said one woman. "What is it?" said another "Why, I thought of something to worry about last night and now I can't remember it."

A famous actress once said: "Worry is an enemy of all beauty." She should have added: "It is the enemy to all health as well." Worry and stress cause all types of illness yet we hang onto it, don’t we?

A mother once said, "It seems so heartless to me, if I do not worry about my children." Some women seem to nurse their troubles, as they do their babies.

A dying man said to his children, "During my long life I have had a great many troubles, most of which never happened!"

A prominent business man in Philadelphia said that his father worried for twenty-five years over anticipated misfortunes that never arrived.

Here is one reason for worry- We try to grasp too much of life at once; since we think of it as a whole, instead of living one day at a time. Life is like a tapestry and each piece should be cut and set with skill, first one piece, then another.

Here’s an interesting thought to ponder, a clock would be of no use if it became discouraged and came to a total standstill because it calculated its work a year ahead. Let’s face it, it is not the troubles of today, but those of tomorrow and of next week and next year, that seem to whiten our hair too early and wrinkle our faces. Eventually when we allow ourselves to become overwhelmed with worry, it brings us to a complete standstill. Definitely, there is such a thing as too much foresight. People can get into trying to figure out what might happen day after day, year after year and loose sight of where they are now. We are not guaranteed that there will be tomorrow so we need to begin living in the present.
Mental exhaustion comes to those who look ahead, and climb mountains before reaching them. They build a wall about today, and live within the enclosure.

The past may have been hard, sad, or wrong, but it is over. Why not turn things around? Why not change your life around? Instead of worrying over your unforeseen misfortune, let your soul and rejoice in the God given unforeseen blessings that are coming your way.

Let’s face it; everyone avoids the company of those who are always grumbling. We all like people who look toward the sun, whether it shines or not. It is the cheerful, hopeful person we go to for sympathy and assistance, not a gloomy critic - who always thinks it, is going to rain, and that we are going to have a terribly hot summer, or a fearful thunder-storm, or who is forever complaining of hard times. It is the bright, cheerful, hopeful, contented person who makes his way, who is respected and admired. Gloom and depression not only take much out of life, but detract greatly from the chances of winning success. It is the bright and cheerful spirit that wins the final triumph.

I can’t change the direction of the wind but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. Jimmy Dean

What an awesome quote! Let’s reset our sails today and change the direction of our lives. We can pay attention to our thoughts and chose to be positive beginning today!
