Anyone who has ever been a member of an organization that requires job volunteering knows one of the best advantages is enhancement of their work experience. As an example, volunteering for the handicapped such as the blind and deaf, through organizations like the Rotary, Moose, Lions or Elks Clubs has the benefit of providing the volunteer with a better understanding of the needs and potential of handicapped individuals. This type of volunteer work, when it includes group volunteering, also provides a sense of "teamwork" so necessary in the work experience. The simple act of volunteering for fund raising campaigns for these types of groups has enormous value to work experience, particularly when charity work involves fund raising. It provides experience on types of funding sources as well as how to raise funds by networking with other volunteer groups.

Many social workers understand the difficulties in dealing with their casework. In volunteer jobs, although there isn't a financial reward of a salary attached to the responsibilities and duties, the rewards are exposure to agencies and supervisory staff where, by observation, work experience is increased. Gaining knowledge of the type of volunteer opportunities available is readily accessible for those who are interested in pursuing this course. charity work for local community service is nearly always welcomed and appreciated. This can take the form of "Meals on Wheels", "Literacy Aides" or community activism in areas of special community needs or interests. In addition, it isn't always necessary to look for a specific group or volunteer organization. Any individual is always capable of enlisting a core group when the need arises for action for a special program or activity within the community. Engaging a core group is highly valuable to work experience in terms of management skills that are gained, use of media to promote group action and attracting new members to a group. Such experience falls into the category of human resources administration skills.

--
Steve Volman - writer, thinker and general muser.
No matter what profession you are in, if you are looking forward to a long and successful career then time management at work is something you have to master. Time is a fixed resource and because tasks need to be completed within schedule, this means your job performance depends largely on good time management at work.

While some professions are simply more demanding than others and require more working hours, anyone can benefit from improving time management at work. One of the first steps to using your time better is to get rid of time-wasters. Below are tips to help you get started on good time management at work:

If you are supervising a group of workers, make sure that you organize meetings only when it is necessary. Otherwise, you will be wasting everyone’s time. If there is a valid reason to gather everyone for a meeting then stick to the agenda and be straight to the point. You should always have a time limit because discussions can go on and on.

Personal internet surfing while at work is also an issue in many offices. If you are guilty of this, you need to practice discipline in using the internet only for work. On the other hand, if you are struggling with time management at work because other people are always disturbing you then do not hesitate to let them know that you are busy or that you are trying to meet a deadline. Just be polite when you say this to avoid hurting anyone.
Likewise, try to keep your phone conversations short.

Organizing your communication is another step to better time management at work. Control the time you spend in responding to emails and phone calls. Instead of answering each communication right away or as soon as you receive them, try to set aside a specific time for this, unless your urgent response is really needed. Try to complete the tasks you have at hand first and then afterwards, get back to the people who called you and answer your emails.

Successful time management at work would sometimes require that you ask other people to help you out. There are essential tasks that you need to accomplish but there are also routine work that perhaps someone else with a lighter work load can do. It is also smart to delegate work to someone who you know can do the job better than you and finish it at less the time. Understanding daily job responsibilities is important in time management at work. This will help you plan your work schedule and look for ways to become more efficient.

--
Lucile Taylor, an expert in Coaching, is a writer for AllContent.com.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

What's Behind Your Lack of Motivation?

Do you find yourself not fully engaging in life due to a lack of motivation? Do you sometimes feel you're a just spectator and wish you could participate in the world around you more fully?

It is quite common for people to have desires or aspirations that go unfulfilled due to little or no self motivation. As this cycle continues it often erodes your own self confidence leaving you with a low self esteem. This is a dangerous cycle and a bad place to be in. The longer this continues the more it ends up stunting your own personal growth and this downward spiral just seems to continue on.

What we're going to address here today is how to identify the underlying culprits behind this lack of self motivation keeping you from living your life more fully. You can't correct what you can't identify therefore the first step will be recognizing what it is that holds you back.

As we identify 3 common areas that inhibit many people from achieving goals or finding personal happiness you may be surprise how easy it is to overcome these barriers.

Fear of Failure

Make no mistake about it having a desire does not mean you also have the confidence to pursue it. Sadly it is all too common for many to desire something but then convince themselves they can't fulfill it BEFORE they even try to. One big reason this occurs is the natural inclination to have a fear of failure.

All our lives we've been taught and it is continually being reinforced that failing at anything is NOT GOOD. As a result of this learned behavior we naturally avoid any new challenges that may result in an outcome that is less then successful.

This fear of failure is wrong since one of the best ways to learn ANYTHING is thru trial and ERROR, that's right ERROR! Without experiencing mistakes and learning from them we limit not only our personal experiences but also our personal growth.

Fear of Commitment

Another common factor that holds people back from pursuing certain desires or goals is making the commitment to undertake this pursuit. This fear of commitment once broken down is quite easy to understand.

Any new endeavor we might consider pursuing is naturally something we're unfamiliar with since it is 'new' to us. Well if we're 'unfamiliar' with something that means we may not be 'comfortable' with it.

Being uncomfortable with something is usually not a desirable or fun experience therefore it is avoided.

If your anticipation of any endeavor is fun and excitement you're likely to pursue it enthusiastically. If you're unfamiliar and therefore uncomfortable your anticipation may be one of dread. As a result this may hold you back from engaging in it.

Familiarity is only gained thru 'experience' and often times the FIRST STEP towards partaking in that 'experience' is the hardest.

Lack the Proper Skill Sets

Although unfamiliarity is again a factor here, the reasons for it are more tangible then the 'inner fears' we have just discussed. The lack of certain skill sets can be more easily identified and addressed thru training or coaching. As a result these types of limitations can be more easily overcome but still remains a factor that could hold people back.

As we've discovered your lack of motivation often stems from little or no self confidence in your knowledge and/or experience. This can be overcome by learning a little bit more about what it is you want to pursue. Nobody starts out an expert, it is a learned experience! Quite naturally we fear what we don't know but once we gain familiarity with the unknown our fears subside and our confidence and comfort level grows. This allows us to more fully engage in the world around us breaking through the barriers that often hold us back.

--
TJ Philpott is an author and Internet entrepreneur based out of North Carolina.
For additional Money Making Tips and a free guide that demonstrates how to find both profitable markets and products visit:http://blogbrawn.com/

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

What is a habit? A habit can be defined as something we repeatedly do until it becomes our behavior. It is the interrelationship of knowledge, skill and desire. Whether the habit is positive or negative depends on what it can do for us.

In Chinese Astrology, a person is given a set of natal pillars which comprises the 5 metaphysical elements of the universe. These elements are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Our existences on earth are governed by these elements. By the interaction of these elements in a productive, conquering or exhaustive cycle, our destiny takes root. Our characteristics, attributes, and behaviors are brought about by many of these elemental interplays within our natal chart. One aspect of destiny that we can change is our habit which invariably influences our behavior. This is where an analysis of our natal chart based on the 5 elements can help us decipher which habit will determine our behavior and ultimately our destiny.

In the context of self improvement, one management guru that stands out is Dr. Stephen R. Covey. His well researched and documented study on human behavior resulted in the publication of the highly acclaimed book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”. In short, the book teaches us how to live a productive and fulfilling life. Using Chinese Astrology, we can analyze how these habits are influenced by the elements in our natal chart.

Habit 1

We always have choices in our lives. What we make of ourselves depend on the choices we made. Whether we live from hand to mouth or live off the fat of the land is ultimately up to us. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that exhausts self and the element that self conquers. If your self element is wood, then the element that exhausts self is fire and the element that self conquers is earth.

Habit 2

We should have goals in our lives. Goals give us direction and take us where we want to go. It is being proactive in controlling our destiny. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with the element that produces self. If your self element is fire, then the element that produces self is wood.

Habit 3

We should have a plan to achieve our goals. A plan will help to take us to our destination. We need to be disciplined and to prioritize which actions come first and which to take in order to get there fastest. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with the element that conquers self and the element that exhausts self. If your self element is earth, then the element that conquers self is wood and the element that exhausts self is metal.

Habit 4

We should seek cooperation that is mutually beneficial. By having such interaction with one another, everybody wins and no one is made to be a loser. In this way, an agreement will last the test of time since everybody is satisfied and will stay committed. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that produces self and the element that conquers self. If your self element is metal, then the element that produces self is earth and the element that conquers self is fire.

Habit 5

We should listen more and speak less in order to really understand people. By seeking to understand others first allows us to see things from their perspective and pave the way for us to be understood in return. This makes us influential. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that produces self and the element that conquers self. If your self element is water, then the element that produces self is metal and the element that conquers self is earth.

Habit 6

We should accept and respect differences in people. By leveraging on the strengths of other people and compensate for their weaknesses, we can forge synergy in a team. Synergy is about using creativity to build strengths in diversity so that collectively, we achieve more than if we go it alone. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that produces self and the element that exhausts self. If your self element is wood, then the element that produces self is water and the element that exhausts self is fire.

Habit 7

We should strive to maintain a balance in our lives - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. By having balance in these four areas, we feel energized and empowered to live life to the full. It is the culmination in our journey to be a highly effective person.

So are you in your element?
Procrastination: The Silent Killer

In my studies of human development, I found that procrastination destroys more things than any other single element. If this habit gets out of control, it ruins marriages, careers, relationships, and self worth. Over time, it has the capability to grow until it completely paralyzes an individual. The effect equally devastates the people doing the procrastinating and all others around them.

Everyone procrastinates to a certain degree. It is a natural human tendency to put some things off, especially those activities we deem negative. Where this habit becomes a problem is when it becomes the default mindset. As children, we are inclined to do things the moment that we think of them. The “do it now” mentality is prevalent. The concept of time is not well formed, thus the child lives completely in the moment. Of course, as we age, this all changes.

As we mature, we learn certain lessons. These lessons are taught in a variety of ways. However, the overall message is that responsible people do a lot of things they do not enjoy. To show us how this work, most of us are given chores to do while growing up. Tasks such as mowing the lawn, taking out the garbage, setting the table, and doing the dishes suddenly are assigned to us. Naturally, the desire to go out and play is stronger than the will to do these things. The reason is playing is fun while chores are not. It is in this way that many of us encounter our first opportunity to procrastinate,

Obviously there is a vast difference between putting off the mowing of the lawn and not paying the electric bill. Yet, when we follow the progression of this deadly habit, we clearly see how one arrives at this destination. We simply do not start out as procrastinators. However, as the unenviable tasks that require our attention mount in our lives, we begin to put more and more off. It starts with the lawn. From there we develop the practice of leaving our school assignments until the night before they are due. This action is duplicated when given a project in the workplace. Some of us even revel in the reputation that we gain as being able to complete things at the last moment. Unfortunately, many of us realize that procrastination creates a great deal of stress in our lives.

Procrastination is a habit. Like all other habits, it becomes ingrained in us over time. The more we engage in it, the deeper it spreads it roots. It is not uncommon for procrastination to completely dominate someones thought process. Instead of having a do it now mentality, the default mindset is to put the activity off. “Later” and “tomorrow” are commonly uttered responses when questioned about the task being avoided.

There are two factors that drive us to procrastinate. When simple activities are put off, laziness is the motivator. Basically, we do not want to do it. We can complete the tasks with ease yet just cannot seem to motivate ourselves to do it. Fortunately, this is usually a short lived situation. Once the motivation to act returns, the activity is quickly completed.

The other motivator is fear. Most situations where procrastination is present is based out of this emotion. When confronted with a task, we project into the future negatively. Our mind focuses upon how everything will not work out for us. This creates a degree of fear. When it is great enough, we start to put the action off. This will occur until the pain of putting it off is greater than the pain associated with taking the action.

Repeating this scenario is what causes us to be paralyzed by procrastination. At first, only the most difficult of tasks are avoided. However, as the habit develops, we default to the idea of putting things off. When this point is reached, the individual is most likely unaware of the severity of the procrastination. It is operating at a subconscious level. The result is the inability to take the action necessary to move forward. While this persists, the quality of life decreases as all areas become infected with this tendency.

Awareness is the beginning of the overcoming of this tragic habit. Monitor those areas where you have a tendency to procrastinate to bring a level of consciousness to your shortcomings, Then take action to complete the task in spite of what your mind is telling you. It is the key to success.

--
Dennis Harting is the Head Coach at Your Rich Life. He is an acclaimed speaker, trainer, and best-selling author.
My mom is a beautiful woman who always wants the best for everyone. It amazes me that after being through the war and many life-changing events, she maintains a sensitivity to the needs of others. She is my inspiration. Even her name is beautiful…Lucretia.

In her 60’s she started painting. This waiting gift arose, giving her an outlet for her inner beauty. She finds smooth rocks, tenderly holding each one to make sure it is just right. Then she allows her heart to guide her in choosing colors and specific flowers to give this carbon form a life of its own. These rocks are then given a name such hope, love, peace, each unique to what she feels it is telling her, which is then written on the back.

They are aptly named “Angel Rocks” and are given to the local cancer society-counseling department. She also gifts them to anyone who needs something to hold on to or to celebrate. I have yet to hear of anyone who has received one of her angel rocks who doesn’t cherish it. Many people keep them in their pocket when going through treatment or a particularly rough time.

Her reason for doing this?

“When I pick up a rock it reminds me of creation, of nature. It connects me to the beauty, peace, and calm, even through the storms of life. I wanted to be able to comfort people who had to face radiation, chemotherapy and all that comes with cancer. I wanted those people to be able to hold onto something tangible. My wish is that these rocks, which are painted with love, bring comfort, hope and peace in their difficult journey. It still amazes me how something so small, can mean so much to someone. From my heart to yours”

Our mothers’ have so much wisdom and depth to share. It is in this stage of my life that I focus more on who she is and what she has accomplished. In many ways she is a mirror to my own being. I look at her gentle hands and her smooth cheeks, which are associated with much love and tenderness. I want to lift her up, shelter her and protect her.

She has taught me invaluable traits to being an empowered woman:

Be authentic. Be secure in the knowledge that you are unique and valuable. It is harder to do when we are young, because we don’t know who we are; yet there is a very strong inner wisdom about right and wrong. By living the truth of our core being, we attract that in our lives and suffer less frustration or regret.
Be a critical thinker. People are too easily swayed by hype and emotionalism. Learn to see the big picture, all the sides and theories; then make up your own mind. Truth is often uncovered by asking the right questions. We need to hear people out and often be a voice for them when they are unable to speak up.

You are woman and have a lot more power than you realize. This being especially true when finding out what women are able to do in this world, but also with men. It does little good to undervalue ourselves, and even though in many ways it is still a mans’ world, we can show our strengths without giving up our femininity.

Restrain yourself from judging. Get involved in some ones life and walk along side them. We all make judgments – its part of our nature. What we can avoid is not going the step further to really see with your heart. Judging often only serves to make ourselves feel more superior.

Always leave the house looking your best! You never know what opportunity may be around the corner… or who you will meet down the isle at the grocery store! When we look good, we often feel good about ourselves. It inspires confidence and attracts positive energy.

Dance around in the living room.... Have fun, bring out the inner child often to experience the wonder, joy and humor of life. Too often as an adult, life becomes difficult and we need to remember that there is a part of us that needs to be nurtured regularly. It is not about being childish....it is about being spontaneous and free to express ourselves.

Take some time to share your gift of lesson from Mom, with the people in your life and with me!……

Be Blessed

--
Businesswoman, Friend, Collaborator, and Team player, Deb Kamsteeg fills her Entrepreneurial Calling by offering a great service that enriches the lives of others.
This week you finally did it. You brought the gym bag out of storage and joined a spinning class. Or, you finally decided to quit smoking. Or, you bought that juicer and have vowed to start eating healthy. Whatever the goal is, you finally have what it takes – motivation.

And so you plunge ahead. Until…

Until that point in time when the big motivation train starts losing its steam. When you’re just too tired to go to the gym after work. When you decide “just one” cigarette wouldn’t hurt. When you look at that juicer and that mound of carrots and kale and decide it’s easier just to have a glass of milk

If only you had it like the good old days. You remember the good old days, don’t you? The days good old Mom used to nag you to do your homework, nag you to write your term paper, nag you to go to soccer practice, nag you to stop biting your nails. Ah, Mom, the original Life Coach.

You now find yourself faced with two options – give up like you’ve done so many times in the past, or give your motivation a kick in the butt with the “Magic 30 Minutes.”

Don’t let the name fool you. The “Magic 30 Minutes” doesn’t require you to purchase either a rabbit or a hat. Although it’s so simple you’ll feel like you’ve pulled a rabbit out of a hat. The “Magic 30 Minutes” is that 30-minute period between waking and falling asleep, where your mind begins to shift from a waking state, through a light trance state, to a sleeping state. That’s right; you actually go into a light state of hypnosis before going to sleep.

Used effectively, such as reading a pleasant story to children before they sleep, the mind is filled with positive images, which helps promote positive thinking. And, since you’re already in a light state of hypnosis, your subconscious is most suggestible to positive and negative suggestions. Unfortunately, most people use the “Magic 30 Minutes” ineffectively, watching the news before retiring, thus filling their minds with crime, tragedy and fear - very negative suggestions indeed.

So, how can the “Magic 30 Minutes” help motivate your motivation? Simple. Thirty minutes before falling asleep write out positive affirmations to yourself about whatever goal you’d like to achieve, such as “I love my body and will treat it well, like going to the gym or drinking a glass of fresh vegetable juice.” Repeating one’s positive affirmations are good, but since the act of writing involves using many different senses – touch, sight, thought – writing out your affirmations sends an even stronger message to the subconscious, resulting in quicker positive changes.

Utilizing the “Magic 30 Minutes” can work with motivation for any goal, can boost confidence and self-esteem (“every day in every way my confidence grows”), and can even be used to attract prosperity to one’s life (“I am open and receptive to a more prosperous life”). You have no more excuses. Just five minutes of writing affirmations before going to bed can change your life.

Of course, if you’d prefer to move back in with Mom… I didn’t think so.

--
Shari Hearn is a writer and creator of a Hypnosis Information blog and Juicing website.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

To have happy and loyal employees who give 110% during work will definitely be part of your company success. But to have employees who are willing to die for your company is not an easy task.
And by shouting at them when they make mistakes or establishing a strict and serious Employer-Employee barrier will not going to help you to gain the trust and loyalty of your employees.
I will share with you 6 ways to keep the motivation of your staffs at the best:
1) Do not reprimand them for making mistakes, because mistakes will definitely be made. Encourage them to try out new things and do not fear making mistakes. Only by failing will you learn new things.
2) Celebrate small success. Offer appreciation to your staff even only minor success has been achieved. A simple “Thank You” will work wonders for your staff, and boost their self-esteem.
3) Destroy the Employer-Employee barrier. Bring them out for lunch and have outing like once a month so as to create rapport with your staffs. Destroy the layer and layer of management, nothing slow a company down faster than bureaucracy.
4) Encourage a boundary-less learning culture in your company by being open to feedbacks. Allow your staffs to contact you directly for any feedbacks. This will create motivation and channels energy in the directions that will help an organization to succeed.
5) Encourage them to have coffee breaks in between working hours so as to serve well as a break from stress. This will serve as a good refresher.
6) Implement a flexible working attitude in your company. Do not starts reprimand your staffs when they are late for half an hour. Instead be concerned by asking them if everything is all right. Take notice when an employee puts in extra working hours at work. Give them extra off for their efforts.

--
The author is the co-founder of HomeBizGears.com

HomeBizGears.com strives to provide the resources and gears for you to start YOUR Internet Business.

HomeBizGears.com is also the publisher of the e-book “Your Perfect Guide to Start Internet Business”.

Do visit http://www.homebizgears.com for more information.

Please feel free to republish this article on your website, or distribute it to your friends or clients, as long as you leave the resource box intact.

Cheow Yu Yuan,
Co-Founder HomeBizGears.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

What is Your Purpose?

Are you living Your Passion?

Living your passion has a flow. You may have heard the phrase “in the flow.” It comes quite naturally and cannot be forced. Nothing happens while you wait on the river bank. A ship may come along, but it will only carry you where IT is going. Where do YOU want to go? Here are four action steps to assist you along the way.

1) Declare and Define: When you reflect back on your life, what is the one thing that, having done it, would give you peace? This question works so much better than…gee….what am I good at, what do I enjoy doing? We can come up with many different answers to those types of questions, but something about this question gets to the heart of the matter. A small still voice will speak to you. Treasure and protect it, but don’t hide it. This is your passion. Declare it. It is not important where it will lead. More will be revealed once you declare it. The clarity does not come until you honor your truth. Now define it with these questions. How can I be of service? Who is searching for what I have to share? The answers will help you define what it is you are called to do. Your purpose.

2) Decorate and Develop: It is important to start with YOUR passion. You can busy yourself with distractions. You can try other safer things, but your unique calling lingers in the background waiting. Waiting for you to be brave. Create a space for your passion and decorate it. Hang up your vision board. Cover the walls with affirmations. Buy candles. Paint. Whatever! This is your space. Make it known what you are doing. Don’t keep it a secret. Set boundaries around the time you require in your space. Make lists. Purchase tools. Find teachers. Seek the wisdom of those who have gone before you. Open your eyes, your ears, and your heart to the miracles that show up. Develop.

3) Dive in and Discover: Remember the first time you stood on the edge of a diving board. You started thinking …..What if? This is when many will quit. Diving generates some resistance, but resistance can be your greatest teacher. Opportunities will show up, and they seem too scary. Financial challenges surface. We allow ourselves to become overwhelmed. We can take a breath. Then we can allow our ego to feel the fear and dive in anyway. Accept and Observe. What obsolete beliefs no longer serve you? Who do you desire to forgive? When we discover what lies underneath our fears, true transformation is possible. It is through this courage to move forward that we find peace and are healed. This step, though it may seem foreboding and may tempt you to quit, is actually quite beautiful and God affirming. There is a reason for everything. Trust the process of discovery.

4) Dance and Deliver: Celebrate your progress! It is easy to forget how far we have come. When we are finally living our passion, we experience a sense of urgency. If we then turn this into fear and lack, we may get stuck in the past or future. Take this urgency and dance. Dance in the moment. It is not important to “get there” in order to start sharing. Share how you arrived at Step One. Deliver your message of hope and belief. Deliver your message to the world that all is possible with faith.

--
Businesswoman, Friend, Collaborator, and Team player, Debra Hadraba fulfills her Entrepreneurial Calling by offering a great service that enriches the lives of others.
