Anti-aging products are marketed toward women who want to get rid of wrinkles and women who want to prevent them. Luckily there are lots to choose from, so women have to decide which products are right for them. There are lots of lotions, cream and serums, but what do they all do? And how can they help to battle wrinkles.

The truth is, no one wants wrinkles, especially long before they are due. Unfortunately with the daily stresses of life, pollution, sun damage and people smoking, wrinkles can happen while a person is still fairly young. That usually points her in the direction of wrinkle help. And with all of the products and procedures out there, finding one in particular can be challenging. There are of course the cheaper versions that can purchase at the drug store. These consist of anti-wrinkle moisturisers and creams. You can buy these products for daytime use and night time use.

The creams for daytime are usually lighter and go well under make-up, while the ones for night time are usually thicker and stay on the face longer. Serums can also be bought there; they feel like oil and usually instantly make the skin feel softer and smoother. They are great for the skin because they keep the skin moisturized and from the wear of tear of the environment. There are also special products that are designed for around the eyes. And most of these products are applied at night when you are sleeping.

Some products claim to have results in a few days to a few weeks and some people really notice a difference after this amount of time. There are not only products out there designed for the face and eyes, there are some that help the neck look younger and others that work on the hands and skin in general. There are body washes advertised to create smoother firmer skin as you wash.

If you`re looking to spend some more money on anti-aging products you can look no further than a spa. That is where you will find things such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and retinoid and antioxidant facials. Microdermabrasion is a procedure that takes the first layer of skin off your face. It is great for getting rid of wrinkles and sun damage. Removing a layer of skin is key in keeping the skin healthy and young looking. They use a light machine to gently rub against the face to remove the skin layer.

Chemical peels claim to remove a layer of skin by putting on a coating of acid. It sounds pretty harsh and there are some side effects however, if you don`t suffer from any negative effects, you will be left with clear smooth skin. Retinoid and antioxidants can be found in facials and in creams helping to combat wrinkles.

Anti-aging products aren`t for everyone. Some people age believing that whatever wrinkles come their way just show the life they have had. But for those who would rather have smooth young looking skin as they age, turning to products is a great remedy. The best thing to do is find out what product you like the best. Test some products out, you can also ask for free samples. Use a product for a couple of days to see if you like the texture and feeling it has, also does it make your skin feel nice? Is it helping it look younger?

When you find a product you like then you will probably stick with it for many years. Ask a cosmetic expert if it is okay to mix and match products of this kind. And visit a spa once in a while to take advantage of an anti-aging facial for some extra pampering. Instead of thinking of it as wrinkle cures, think of it as making your skin look and feel better.

--
You can have access to articles about health in portuguese language from page Health

Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for Polomercantil

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

The swine flu pandemic has given rise to all sorts of myths and misconceptions. On the one hand, many believe it is no different from a normal bout of flu, and merits little concern; on the other, some have worried that it will be as devastating as the influenza pandemics of 1918-19, which claimed almost as many lives as the world war which preceded it.

The reality lies somewhere between these two extremes. Swine flu is a genuine threat (it has claimed almost 8,000 lives worldwide), but it causes only mild problems in the majority of people it infects, and the risk of infection is limited provided you take proper precautions. This article aims to help you understand the origins and symptoms of swine flu, giving you all the information you need for complete peace of mind.

Where has it come from?

The current swine flu pandemic is not the first global outbreak of swine influenza - in fact there was a major outbreak as long ago as 1918, when pigs suffered almost as much as humans during the post-war health crisis. However the 2009 pandemic is a new strain, and is in fact a hybrid of five different flu viruses: North American avian influenza, human influenza, North American swine influenza and two swine influenza viruses typically found in Europe and Asia. The strain has both Eurasian and North American genes, suggesting it evolved through international travel and contact between sufferers of different viruses.

The outbreak is believed to have begun on factory farms in Veracruz, Mexico, although there is evidence that it first arose among Asian pigs before being transported to America in a human host. When the virus first came to prominence in March this year, the Mexicans tried desperately to keep a lid on it; however there was little they could do to counter the reality of daily global travel and constant cross-border migration, and the virus spread rapidly. In June, less than three months after the Mexicans noticed the virus, the World Health Organisaton declared swine flu a pandemic.

Thankfully, it now seems that swine flu virus activity may have peaked in the US and some European countries - however other countries are still reporting sharp increases, so we`re definitely not out of the woods.

What are the Symptoms

Even if you have the virus, there is a strong likelihood you will experience only mild symptoms; these include fever, sore throat, coughing, vomiting nausea or diarrhea. In the majority of cases, the virus will have passed within six days.

However, if you are currently pregnant, or suffer from asthma, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, pneumonia or neurodevelopmental conditions, your susceptibility increases sharply. Swine flu can cause severe health problems for people in these health brackets, so, if you do fall into one of these categories, it`s best to take proactive measures.

What do I do if I have it?

If you are showing mild symptoms, such as coughing, sore throat or diarrhea, there`s little you can do but shut your doors, close your windows and sit it out at home. It`s not as severe as the plagues of the seventeenth century, where the authorities barricaded the infected inside their homes and daubed red crosses on their doors; but you will have a better chance of stopping the spread of your symptoms if you stay away from crowded places such as gyms, shopping malls, bars, clubs and restaurants. And you`ve got an excuse to get out of school or work - every cloud has a silver lining!

If you are starting to feel more severe symptoms, or if you more vulnerable to the virus for the reasons given above, it is recommended that you seek out a course of anti-virals and antibiotics straight away; oseltamivir or zanamivir are highly recommended.

How do I stop it spreading to me?

There is no protection against seasonal flu by existing vaccines. A recent study made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that children had no preexisting immunity to the new strain however adults had some degree of immunity, particularly those over 60.

However a number of vaccines are available for swine flu: these include Pandemrix, ACAM-FLU-A, Fluzone, Influvac, Live attenuated (FluMist) and Optaflu. Consult your doctor or pharmacist to source the best available solution.

--
You can have access to articles about health in portuguese language from page Health

Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for Polomercantil

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

A beginner's guide to the life cover

Insuring your own life is cheap, easy and one of the most important things you can do to protect your loved ones. The comfort of knowing your family would be financially secure should the worst happen is simply invaluable.

Why is life cover so important?

Life insurance pays out a lump sum when you die to your partner, your children or any other dependants.

In other words it enables the people you love to receive money to pay off the mortgage and any other debts, and cover living expenses like childcare, education and day-to-day needs. It gives your family or partner financial security.

How much does life insurance pay out?

You decide how much you want to get cover for - the sum assured - which could be the level of your outstanding mortgage, to enable your family to stay in their home should the worst happen, or it could be more to cover the loss of a family income.

You set the term you want the cover for - many people choose 25 years and run the insurance alongside their mortgage, for example. But some choose to have cover for longer.

It's not pleasant to dwell on the subject of death but it is practical, especially when you own a home. After all, the peace of mind you can gain from knowing your family is covered is priceless.

What type of life cover is there?

There are two main types of life cover - term assurance and whole-of-life insurance. Whole-of-life insurance is complex as it combines an investment and insurance policy, and requires financial advice.

Term assurance is cheaper, simpler to understand and widely available - you simply pay your premiums for a set term, at the end of which the policy is over.

There are different types of term assurance:

•	Decreasing term cover. The sum assured decreases throughout the term. It is the cheapest type of cover and it suits people who want to cover a repayment mortgage, as it reduces alongside the debt as you pay off your homeloan.

•	Level term assurance. This is a sum assured that remains the same throughout the term. Anyone can take the cover but it particularly suits those with an interest-only mortgage because their mortgage debt remains the same throughout the term. It's very straightforward as, if you insure for £100,000, the policy pays out £100,000 in the event of a claim.

•	Increasing term assurance. The sum assured goes up throughout the term which can protect the value of the sum assured from the effects of inflation.

•	Family income benefit. Pays out an annual income until an agreed date - for example it could pay out £20,000 to your partner for each year until 2020. It can be easier for your loved ones to manage a regular income than a large lump sum.

What if I'm single - do I still need life insurance?

Even if you are single and have no dependants, you may want to consider life insurance, particularly if you want to leave a paid-off property to your family. However, it's a good idea to act sooner rather than later as cover tends to be cheaper for young, single and healthy applicants and will get significantly more expensive as you age.

Joint cover

If you are a couple with children you could consider a joint policy that pays out on the first bereavement. However, it's worth checking out the premiums on two separate policies as, for very little extra, you could effectively get double the cover.

Critical illness cover

Critical illness cover pays out a lump sum if you are diagnosed with one of a pre-determined list of conditions, which usually include cancer, heart attacks and strokes.

You can take critical illness cover for an amount of your choice and many people choose a level that would pay off their mortgage and other debts if they became ill and unable to work.

It complements life insurance and can be taken as an add-on to a term assurance policy or taken separately.

How much will life insurance cost?

It depends on the type of cover you take but can be surprisingly cheap for such an important insurance. Policies start from around £5 a month for a single decreasing term assurance policy, although your age and state of health can affect premiums.

In other words, this most valuable of insurances is not an expensive option.
When it comes to buying life insurance the choices on offer can sometimes prove confusing.

And with a policy expected to provide peace of mind for your family, it's important you choose the cover that best suits your needs.

It's therefore crucial to understand what policies are available and which providers you should consider.

What types of life insurance are available?

•	Level term insurance - An insurer agrees to pay out an agreed lump sum in the event of the policyholder's death over a fixed time period - for example, 25 years. Such cover is useful for people who want to protect their family.

•	Decreasing term insurance - The sum guaranteed by an insurer declines over the period of the policy, typically in line with the customer's declining mortgage balance.

•	Renewable term insurance - The policyholder is allowed to renew the insurance at its expiry date and continue without having a medical up to a specified age.

•	Convertible term insurance - A policy which allows the option to covert a level term insurance policy to cover which includes some form of investment element (this will not normally require a medical upon conversion).

•	Increasing term insurance - The value of the sum insured increases over the policy's term to compensate for the effects of inflation.

•	Index linked term insurance - A type of increasing term insurance - the policy links premiums and the sum insured to rise in line with the retail price index.

Who provides life insurance?

The number of insurance providers on the market can seem dizzying, with countless companies vying for your business. Here's what you should know.

•	Mortgage providers - Your mortgage provider will often offer some form of life insurance when you agree a home loan. It's important to remember that you are not obliged to buy cover from them so feel free to shop around.

•	Major insurers - Firms such as Prudential, Aviva and Legal & General are established players in the life insurance market. They offer a wide range of life insurance policies, and some provide policies which are sold by third parties, such as supermarkets.

•	Banks - Banks sell insurance under various guises, for example Scottish Widows is part of Lloyds Banking Group, while Royal Bank of Scotland owns Direct Line.

•	Supermarkets - In recent years, major supermarkets have moved into the life insurance market under agreements with insurance companies. Tesco's life cover is provided by Direct Line, while Legal & General underwrites Sainsbury's policies.

•	Specialists - Whereas many insurers offer a range of cover from car insurance to home insurance, along with life cover, you may feel happier with a company which provides just life insurance, such as Bright Grey.

Of course, the simplest way to see a range of competitive life insurance policies in one place is to search online. You can quickly and easily compare policies, allowing you to check what features they offer, as well as their price.

--
You can find out more about life insurance at http://www.confused.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

What is life insurance?

Life insurance is one policy -in an ideal world - you never want to claim on, but buying it can help ensure peace of mind.

A life insurance policy will typically cover mortgage repayments - and mortgage lenders encourage homebuyers to take out cover to minimise the risk of repossession in the event of a death.

Life Insurance can also cover:

Lost income - so your partner or family can continue to enjoy a comfortable standard of living.

Education or childcare costs - you may have to pay for a nanny or childminder, or for school fees and university costs.

Who should buy life insurance?

Life insurance is aimed at anyone who wants to provide a financial safety net should the worst happen. Typically it is bought by people who, as the main or joint breadwinner, are financially responsible for loved ones. Single people may wish to cover expenses such as funeral costs, so their wider family isn't faced with this financial burden. You may also want to pay off your mortgage or your debts so someone else can have your house or car, for example.

Guide to different types of life insurance

1)	Life Level Term Insurance

Pays your family a fixed cash sum, which remains the same throughout an agreed time period, such as 20 years.

2)	Mortgage Life Insurance

Pays off your mortgage in case of death with the amount decreasing in line with a mortgage balance.

3)	Critical Illness Cover

Pays out a lump sum if you are diagnosed with specified illnesses, such as cancer or heart disease. This can be obtained as stand-alone cover, or as part of a life insurance policy.

4)	Whole of Life Insurance

Unlike term insurance, whole of life cover is guaranteed to pay out regardless of when a policyholder dies.

5)	Single or Joint Cover

Single cover protects one person, while joint cover can be bought by couples, and it pays out on the first bereavement.

How long should a life insurance policy last?

You can buy life insurance cover to protect into old age, with a guaranteed payout when you die. But at the very least, you may want to consider covering your life until your mortgage is repaid, your children become financially independent, or perhaps until you reach retirement.

How much life insurance cover should I get?

You should consider covering your mortgage and other debts, you may also want to consider life insurance to cover loss of income. Financial advisers typically recommend cover of ten times gross income as a starting point, though you may decide more is necessary.

The more comprehensive the cover, the greater the monthly premium, so you should seriously consider how much protection you need to provide the necessary peace of mind for your family. The costs which you need to cover may also change over time - and life insurance policies can reflect this. For example, mortgage costs may decline as the capital of the loan is repaid, so you may choose to buy decreasing-term life insurance, such as mortgage life insurance, which pays out less as the years go by.

--
You can find out more about life insurance at http://www.confused.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

The Medical Protection Society (MPS) welcomes the relaunch of Being Open

Today MPS welcomes the relaunch of the National Patient Safety Agency's (NPSA) Being Open policy.

We have long supported and advised members to be open with patients about their mistakes. Being Open encourages healthcare professionals to acknowledge to patients when something has gone wrong, say sorry, explain what happened and what will happen next.

In a recent survey that MPS did of 700 doctors we found that 90 per cent of respondents said they believe patients are less likely to sue after being the victim of a mistake if they receive an apology and explanation of the error.

However, doctors have concerns about the legal and disciplinary consequences of being open and this is reflected in our survey, that found only two thirds (68 per cent) of doctors are willing to be open with patients when something goes wrong.

Dr Stephanie Bown, Director of Policy and Communications, at MPS said: "As a longstanding advocate of openness in healthcare, MPS is pleased to once again support the NPSA's Being Open. Time and time again surveys tell us that most patients who make complaints about medical errors just want to understand what happened and why. Anyone can make mistakes and admitting them is morally ethically and professionally the right thing to do.

"An environment of openness is one where adverse events and near misses are openly identified. In our experience, a significant proportion of adverse incidents are avoidable and it has been proven that the underlying cause of the majority of adverse incidents in medicine is either systems failure, or a combination of systems failure and individual error. Therefore, adverse event reporting is central to improving patient safety as it provides the opportunity to learn how to prevent the same thing happening again."

Dr Bown added: "There is debate about how openness in the NHS should be delivered, with some supporting the introduction of legislation with punitive measures to encourage openness. MPS strongly believe that a change in culture would be the most effective way to improve openness in healthcare. To underpin a culture change, ongoing education and training should be given to support healthcare professionals to effectively participate in open discussions. Being open with patients requires a change in attitudes, values and behaviours, not central government or management diktat."

--
For further information, please contact Stella Zegge at the medical protection society

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

The At Home Blood Pressure Kit

High blood pressure is an epidemic health problem the world over. The statistics for the year 2007 included an approximate count of 1 billion people the world over who suffer from this condition. Of the 1 billion, the US is home to 73.6 million of these people. Like heart disease, high blood pressure is sometimes known as the `silent killer`.

An even more dangerous issue is that many do not even know they have it, as there are often no visible symptoms until it is too late. It can also lead to heart or failure and stroke if allowed to get out of control. It can also lead to other conditions that are not generally public knowledge; these are kidney failure, dementia and blindness.

People generally discover that they have high blood pressure at a standard doctor's visit as this is routine at the beginning of a visit. Many people do not visit their doctor regularly, and having a home kit can make it possible to become aware of hypertension in a safe amount of time to start treating it. Sometimes people's pressure and heart rate are elevated when the reading is done at the doctor's office, which would result in distorted results. This can be alleviated by using a home blood pressure kit.

There are some things to keep in mind when looking for a good blood pressure kit. A nice option is a heart monitor that is linked to remote monitoring equipment, if it is affordable to the patient. The doctor may advise other features that are desirable.

Arm cuff monitors are the old standard, but this is awkward and bulky to use when a person is checking their own blood pressure alone. There needs to be a hand to pump the bulb, while at the same time monitoring the rate of blood flow and pulse with the other. Therefore, this form of monitor is geared to use by doctors and nurses. Finger and wrist devices have been shown to give inaccurate readings due to body temperature or position changes.

Now there are electronic blood pressure monitors that can be purchased in a home kit. This includes a sensor that rates the blood flow as the pump is working; easy to read digital readings let the user instantly see their readings. These come both with electronic hands-free pumps or manual pumps.

There are some required features that should be checked for when purchasing a blood pressure kit. Make sure that the numbers on the readout are easy to see and that they will be viewable based on personal sight requirements. The cuff should be checked to see if it is a good fit on the arm - without this, the reading will be unreliable. The stethoscope should allow hearing of the heartbeat. A good idea is to bring the kit to the doctor shortly after purchasing so that he/she can check to see that all features and functions are working correctly. Another tip is to use the bathroom before checking pressure, and trying to become very relaxed before and during is very important.

A home blood pressure kit should definitely be a staple in the home of someone who suffers from hypertension. It should also be a serious consideration in the first aid kit supplies of anyone. As this condition can be a silent killer, checking the blood pressure regularly will alert the user to a problem that otherwise might go dangerously unnoticed. When the blood pressure is not monitored on a regular basis, it could result in a fatal error for the sufferer.

--
You can have access to articles about health in portuguese language from page Health

Roberto Sedycias works as IT consultant for Polomercantil

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

It's been known for awhile that health care jobs such as nursing, respiratory therapists, X-ray technicians, and many others are in demand. People looking for a career in health care field have to be glad that there are many selection. Also, the US government through the stimulus bill are pumping funds in the industry to make it more efficient and available to all. With this kind of attention and focus, health care looks promising as a source of stability for a long time.

If you are trying to figure out whether or not to go into healthcare, do not overlook that there are other places to work besides the hospital and doctor's offices. The pharmacy is an integral component of healthcare also. Where else do you go for prescription medicine? The local pharmacy is one of the more important aspect of a health-conscious community.

To work in a pharmacy, you must be a certified pharmacist. The requirements for certification vary from states to states. You can also be a certified pharmacy tech, another position whose requirements vary from states to states. But in all cases, taking formal classes help. And online pharmacy tech schools will do with the added convenience for most students.

The duty of the pharmacy tech is to simply assist the pharmacists. The pharmacy technician is a job that requires helping customers, supply stocking such as over-the-counter medicine, filling-up prescription medicine as directed by the pharmacists, and other duties that will allow the pharmacy to run smoothly.

An alternative job to consider in the health care industry is in the healing practice. An example of a career in this branch of healthcare is the massage therapist. The practice of massage therapy requires the manipulation of soft tissue, such as skin and tendon, for healing and relaxation.
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a serious health concern that is very common. Hypertension is a risk factor that can lead to stroke, heart attacks and aneurysms. It is also the leading cause of chronic renal failure.

Atlas Orthogonal Care Reduces Blood Pressure

Dr. David Nygaard, founder of Atlas Family Chiropractic in Asheville, NC, has had success in reducing hypertension though a specialized form of chiropractic care known as Atlas Orthogonal. Dr. Nygaard revealed that the Atlas bone is a small bone at the base of the skull and the beginning of the spinal cord, "The Atlas bone is named after the Titan Atlas, who in Greek mythology, supported the weight of the world."

This bone, like it's namesake, is the first link in the chain of bones that supports the weight of the skull. The nerves in your spinal column relay information from all parts of your body back and forth. When the Atlas moves from it's proper or orthogonal alignment it can cause a number of problems. The rest of the spine will move to support the weight of the skull and cause surrounding nerves to become pinched and irritated.

"In the case of hypertension, a misalignment of the Atlas bone may restrict blood flow in the arteries at the base of the skull. This restriction is a trauma that can cause surrounding nerves to send signals to the brain that cause the arteries to contract worsening the problem of hypertension," adds Nygaard.

Atlas Orthogonal Care Reduces Stress

Hypertension is caused by many things including poor diet and lack of exercise, but one factor doctors always discuss with patients who have high blood pressure is stress. Dr. Nygaard explains that there are many types of stress, "Everyone knows about mental stress. Stress from work, sitting in traffic, losing a loved one, these kinds of mental or emotional stress can cause very real physical problems."

Physical stress can be caused by repetitive motions, by sleeping in a bad position or having poor posture. Injuries like whiplash are also a form of physical stress. Physical stresses often cause pain that may seem normal due to circumstances but are a sign from the body that something is wrong and should not be ignored.

Chemical stress is something people are slowly becoming more aware of. Toxins and chemicals in our environment constantly assault our nervous system and can affect muscle tone. Drugs [both prescription and recreational], tobacco and alcohol, can all do harm to the body. Cleaning chemicals, pollen and vaccinations are lesser-known offenders.

"Whatever the cause, these stresses build up," says Nygaard. "Eventually the body reacts causing subluxations."

A subluxation is a stress response. Muscles go into spasm. Spinal bones lock up. And adjacent nerves are choked or chafed. This interferes with the control and regulation of your body. This garbles communications between the brain and parts of your body.

Atlas Orthogonal Adjustments treat these subluxations allowing muscles to relax, bones to return to their natural position and surrounding nerves to heal.

Atlas Orthogonal Care Lowers Blood Pressure Without Drugs

Dr. Nygaard believes in the body's power as a self healing and self-regulating organism. By treating problems with the spine, all the body's systems are allowed to function properly. The procedure of adjusting the Atlas bone is painless and has been shown effective in relieving hypertension without the side effects of pharmaceuticals. Some patients have over time been able to stop using blood-pressure medications.

Dr. Nygaard stresses that Atlas adjustments will not help everyone with high blood pressure; only a consultation for an Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor can determine if Atlas adjustments can aid a patient in reducing their hypertension.

For more information, visit:
http://atlasfamilychiropractic.net

--
Chris Wingate
Freelance journalist, outdoorsman and adrenalin junkie, Chris can be found exploring the forests of the South East where he is a white water raft guide on the French Broad River.
You may think that carpal tunnel syndrome is a bone or ligament problem, but that's only half the story. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) states, "Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist."

Therefore, carpal tunnel is actually caused when a nerve gets pinched. Dr. David Nygaard of Atlas Family Chiropractic in Asheville, N.C. further explains that, "The carpal tunnel is a band of ligaments and small bones in your wrist. Painful symptoms can result when nerves are compressed by a collapse of this nerve ‘tunnel'."

Virtually every joint in the body is susceptible to fixations and malfunctions that impair function and range of motion. Trauma, micro-traumas, vibrations and repetitive motions are often culprits.

Atlas Chiropractic Treats the Body as a Whole

Just as chiropractors work to align the bones of the spine, they employ techniques that can be applied to other joints in the body. Shoulders, hip problems, knees, ankles and even jaw problems have been shown to respond to chiropractic care. Familiar with working with pinched nerves, chiropractors align bones in their best possible position. That, in turn, allows ligaments, and muscles to function properly. Once stress is removed from the nerves, they are able to begin healing naturally.

After a thorough consultation to determine if chiropractic care is appropriate for the patient, Atlas Family chiropractors begin their examinations by taking measurements of how bones are aligned in the body. They pay particular attention to the alignment of the Atlas bone. The Atlas bone is the first bone of the spinal column directly beneath the skull. Like a link in a chain, it and the rest of the spinal column, houses the central nervous system. The angle of this bone as it supports the weight of the skull is measured to ensure that it is in a natural or "orthogonal" position.

They would then make adjustments, as needed, to help heal Sublaxations. Sublaxations occur when a misaligned bone causes nerve interference. This interference alters nerve output, either increasing it or decreasing it, resulting in malfunction.

"Malfunction, left long enough, often results in a lack of ease or dis-ease. Dis-ease will eventually lead to symptoms. Many are surprised to learn that the cause of their wrist problem may be due to functional changes to one or more joints of the neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist", says Dr. Nygaard.
Sometimes called the "Double Crush Syndrome," sublaxations in the upper spine can compromise the workings of anything between it and the tip of your little finger.

Chiropractic Care is a Non-Invasive Treatment

The problem with many treatments for carpal tunnel is that they don't treat the source of the problem. Some people try to self-treat symptoms of carpal tunnel by wearing a wristband. While it may alleviate some of the symptoms by adding stability and reducing mobility, it doesn't treat the joint that's causing the nerve to be pinched.

Prescription medications that dull the pain can cause similar problems as left untreated the pain, numbness and tingling associated with carpal tunnel can worsen possibly causing serious nerve damage. Should damage to the area be severe, surgery might be recommended.

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive alternative to consider before surgery. By restoring proper motion and alignment and strengthening the surrounding muscles, nerves are allowed to function properly. Working with a chiropractor to align the body and strengthen the wrist, patients are often able to resume their regular activities without drugs, surgery or bracing.

For more information, visit:
http://atlasfamilychiropractic.net

--
Bryan Sullivan is the Executive Vice President of Write Away, Inc. - a public relations and marketing firm based in Weaverville, NC.
