There are several forms of medication, some preventive and others curative. Preventive medication stresses on keeping the skin squeaky clean to prevent the incidence of clogged pores. Antiseptic liquid cleansers like Cetaphil cleanse the skin without causing any irritation. In fact, these should form an integral part of your daily skin care regime.

There are two dermatologist tested ways to facilitate the healing of acne, one is the use of Tretinoin, it’s a form of vitamin A, which speeds up the skin’s healing and renovation process shortening the inflammation period, thus preventing acne scars. The other treatment used by most dermatologists for acne scar prevention is the use of Aplpha-Hydroxy Acids of AHA’s and Beta-Hydroxy Acids or BHA’s. These help the skins remodeling process, with the right concentration and proper application; these can also prevent acne scars.

Accutane can cause such damage to a fetus that if a doctor prescribes it for you, he is required by law to make sure you have two negative pregnancy tests no more than a week before you start taking the drug. You have to be using birth control, so most doctors prescribe birth control pills for acne as well, and you must have a negative pregnancy test before each month's refill of Accutane.

Some women never have a pimple until they hit their thirties. Talk about a real shock. This usually occurs when they decide it’s time to go off the pill. Birth control helps balance hormones and for many it keeps acne at bay. So it may not be that they were ever immune to acne just that it’s been so long they never realized they would have pimples.

Lifestyle and environmental factors contribute significantly to the emergence of adult acne. A diet that is poor in the necessary vitamins and minerals can wreak havoc on how the body's organs function. The skin, being the largest organ in the body, needs nutrients in order to work effectively. If the skin is unable to metabolize or secrete the waste products that it needs to because of poor nutrition, acne can result. Habits such as smoking and drinking can also affect the skin's condition and its resistance to diseases like adult acne.

A dermatologist may use acne laser surgery in the most severe acne cases to dig to the very core of a pimple and clear it completely. The laser device is designed so that it is weak enough not to cause any additional damage beyond the area being treated. Most experts consider this laser surgery very safe, but as with any surgery there is always at least a small opportunity for unexpected consequences.

--
Sarah Rhodes suffered from severe acne for many years before finally discovering a cure that works.
Acne is one of the most common and stubborn skin problems. Acne, a disease involving the sebaceous glands of the skin, is estimated to affect more than 80% of the world's population at some time during their life. Mild acne is removed from the skin by using gels, creams, lotions etc. Using oral antibiotics, oral contraceptives and topical antibiotics reduces severe form of acne. Clearlight is an important new treatment for acne. It's effective, painless and, most importantly, has no known side effects." The ClearLight system is a unique new therapeutic light that treats moderate inflammatory acne. In this technology, a high-intensity, narrow light source is used to remove the acne.
If you are not aware of your particular skin type and the medications that are good for your skin type and the myths about acne than you are in danger of causing more damage to your skin instead of getting rid of acne. Since most people cannot differentiate between what is truth and what’s just another acne myth when they begin treating their acne, so they end up wasting a lot of their time and money on products and medications that either don’t work at all or are not good for their particular skin type. An idea that is widely believed to be a myth is the effect of stress on acne and skin disorder.
The cosmetic markets have constantly been booming for over a decade now with numerous beauty products. Many such products contain chemicals that sometime are not good for your skin health. One popular skin disorder that a lot of people are concern about is acne. There are lots of causes of acne and different people have acne due to different causes and this fact has also been the reason of many myths that are associated with acne
Can acne actually occur due to stress? There are plenty of evidences that suggest that stress can most surely cause acne or make an existing skin condition worse. Our bodies are highly developed chemical laboratories that produce all sorts of stuff. A study was conducted at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Though it was a small study, with a sample size of only 22 students suffering from acne, the professors conducted the study conclusively proved that the exam stress worsened acne in these students. Our body starts to generate a great quantity of male hormones at puberty. This excess production of male hormones can also occur at other times in life except puberty; for example, when woman starts or stops taking birth control pills.

This overproduction of male hormones causes the sebaceous glands of our bodies to shift into overdrive and begin producing excess sebum. The sebum then clogs the pores and begins the acne development cycle. Male hormones are not the only cause for the sebaceous glands to begin overproducing sebum. Whenever we are exceedingly stressed or too emotional, our bodies respond by causing the adrenal glands to create a matter known as Cortisol, which travels straight into the bloodstream. Then the chemical chain reaction continues as the sebaceous glands release sebum, the sebum in turn clogs the pores and acne develops.

The physical changes in the body have the tendency to cause exactly the same chemical chain reaction as the emotional changes in the mind. There is a possibility that your acne is only an outward sign of an internal problem. Reduction in stress shall naturally reduce excess sebum production by the sebaceous glands and reduction in sebum production will help to lessen an acne breakout. Therefore, if you can reduce and control you stress level, you will be able to see your skin getting healthy in very small period of time.

Basically reducing stress level is actually restoring a hormonal balance in your body and that will help reduce production of sebum. So to sum it up this factor should be address apart from using medication to manipulate the excessive sebum production. This way of fighting acne can help in eliminating the problem effectively.

--

S.F.
About 70% of your immune system is located in your intestines. If this area is blocked with waste, your immuno-defenses are down. So, instead of waste leaving your body via the rectum, it chooses to leave through the skin. Waste leaving the skin can cause an infection that presents itself as acne.

There sure is a lot of confusion out there regarding acne prevention. Some people say to scrub your face all day, eat the right foods, avoid sweat, exercise, and on and on. Unfortunately, these have nothing to do with acne prevention.

Conventional skin peel treatments that involve suction-type dermabrasion can cause further damage, as it can bruise the skin and break some small blood vessels. Those who wish to treat their acne and other skin problems with TCA can control the strength of the treatment by starting off with a weak solution and gradually working their way up to more concentrated mixtures as needed.

Hormones during later years, especially for women, can play a role in acne cure and prevention for teen years. For adults oral contraceptives or hormonal birth control pills may be helpful for women, combined with systemic or current treatments, prescription or over-the-counter medicines.

Salicyclic Acid is very effective in the treatment of blackheads. It can loosen and soften thick, clogged pores. However, it does little to prevent the development of new blemishes.

Keeping in shape can help fight acne by fighting off negative stress levels that can come from negative self-esteem and depression. However, some safeguards need to be in place to ward off acne that can result from your workout routines. First, watch which products you use on your body because you'll most likely be sweating. With any sunscreen's for outdoor workout activities and any make-up or other cosmetics, check for “noncomedogenic” and “oil-free” on the labels to help prevent pore clogging. And when your workout is finished, wash the products off as soon as possible, especially if you'll be going into a steam room or sauna where your pores will be opening up more. You don't want these lotions and other cosmetics getting into your pores and clogging them up, resulting in blemishes.

--
Sarah Rhodes suffered from severe acne for many years before finally discovering a cure that works.
Acne Sufferers - A Change in Lifestyle Could Change Their Lives
Can we find a natural remedy for acne or are acne sufferers forever committed

to looking for the next wonder drug, lotion or cream, only to be disappointed

yet again? Are they to be forever doing the rounds of doctors and

dermatologists trying prescriptions that often do not work and can have

serious side effects.

Diet could be the key

Many acne sufferers know that certain foods aggravate their condition. There

is too much evidence from too many people to be ignored. Many people have

found their condition worsened after eating some food and, conversely, it

improved when these foods were avoided.

Recent studies by a research team at Australia's RMIT University and Royal

Melbourne Hospital Department of Dermatology has shown a solid link between

diet and acne. Findings of the study were presented at the 15th Congress of

the European Academy of Dermatology and Venerology in Greece and published in

the prestigious Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the

American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Whilst there is still more work to be done the research clearly indicated:

·	A high GI diet of highly refined carbohydrates such as white sugar, white

flour, and sugar drinks, caused breakouts
·	A healthy, low GI diet of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, lean

meat, fish and seafood reduced acne significantly
·	In the study group, the young men on the healthy diet reduced their acne by

50% over the 12 week period and their self-esteem and sense of wellbeing

improved

The right diet is only one of the steps in healing acne in a natural way. The

formation and cure of acne are complex issues but, for most sufferers, the

existing pharmaceutical treatments do not give long-lasting relief. They do

not approach the problem in a holistic way. They do not get to the root cause.

Most doctors do not believe diet plays a role in the cause and aggravation of

acne. Most of their knowledge is based on very old studies dating back to the

late sixties and seventies but, as we have seen, more recent studies have

shown that diet has a vital role to play.

The message is clear for acne sufferers: a change in eating habits could

change their lives.

--
William Burnell has followed a healthy diet and regular exercise for many years and has enjoyed the benefits. He has an interest in following and promoting natural solutions to health problems - particularlty since a smart doctor helped him beat chronic fatigue syndrome without using drugs.
You can read more about the effects of a healthy
lifestyle on acne at http://www.squidoo.com/naturalcysticacneremedies

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Acne treatment is a very popular topic among teenagers and adults who suffer from this skin disease, from person to person the opinion of what is the correct treatment seems to vary considerably. With so many opinions of discussion is going around especially on the web, it is necessary to provide some of the facts when it comes to acne formation and treatment, let's take a look at some of them.

-- Acne

This is a common term used to define pores which have been blocked by sebum which has mixed with bacteria and prevented the skin from breathing and acquiring oxygen as it normally should. There are many types of acne and they all appear to be different, some of them are: Comedones (also referred to as blackheads or whiteheads), Pustules (small inflammation of the skin caused by the formation of pus), Nodules (these are solid and very painful lessions which may extend deep within the skin and are known to get visible scars), Papules (this is a small elevation of the skin caused by the reaction to acne, they do not contain pus), etc.

-- Dirt

It is a very common myth that dirt is the main cause of acne, the fact is that dirt does not trigger acne however, it does contribute to worsen the problem if it exists. Just like we use our longs to breathe, our skin also breathes through the pores and if they are blocked by either cosmetics or dirt there will be skin problems.

-- Diet

A person's diet can either contribute or eliminate skin diseases such as acne, milk and diary products contained hormones which can create an imbalance in our body and trigger acne flareups, a diet which is based on a moderate intake of carbohydrates as well as small portions of glycemic foods can help contain acne. Likewise, a diet which is high in proteins can help decrease acne related problems by as much as 50% in the long run. Always consult with your dermatologist before switching your diet in order to control your acne problem.

In addition, chocolate has been said not to be a main cause of acne according to the American medical Association

-- Causes of Acne

There are several causes for acne, they can be related to hormone imbalances during teenage years as well as in adulthood, high G.I. foods as already mentioned, bad cosmetics, the use of steroids, stress, genetic history, and abnormal accumulation of dead skin cells, certain types of medications, etc.

-- Acne Treatment

The obsessive behavior of continuously bursting whiteheads does not help when it comes to eliminate acne, on the contrary it contributes to elevate the problem.
Being exposed to the sun light by an extended period of time can worsen acne.
Products which contain benzoyl peroxide are very effective to help contain acne flareups.
Daily cleansing of the skin and exfoliation are the most basic and effective form of acne prevention and best of all the costs are relatively low.

--
AcneTreatmentControl.com provides a wide selection of acne products which can help treat adult acne.
Adult Acne is not something to feel embarrassed about. Though the general notion is that acne and pimple outbreaks are for prepubertal and teenaged populations, adult acne is not unusual. A majority of adults, who were lucky to be 'acne free' during their teenage years and who saw the desperation of their peers trying to combat acne, feel mortified when they find that just when they assumed they were free of acne for ever, they have become afflicted by adult acne.

Most of the adults are confused and embarrassed.
