A great starting point is to listen to the music your trying to create and learn what the songs you like use in terms of sounds in the tracks and where they use them. First part is to layer up a percussion sound in an eight-bar loop in your sequencer software. Then move onto the Bass, by using plugins to your sequencer you should be able to find some bass patches to use for now. Then look at deciding your pattern and then tweak the sound to your preference, by manipulating sound effects or using filters.

Try not to start arranging sounds at this point as it is too early to put the percussion into the state of a finished track and you will want to arrange it all when the sounds are all read in. Continue then building the track until your complete the intro section. Then start a new loop (main part of the dance track) and add a lead synthesiser MIDI file on top of the percussion you have previously set. Then repeat this and create loops until you have loops for the main sections of your track.

Now you’ve got the basics, its time to listen to what you’ve got and ask yourself how yoru favourite dance tracks work, i.e how they build up to the crescendo and how the bass line rocks hard, what do they do to produce this feeling and effect. By answering questions like these you can gain a better understanding as to what a successful track should have and also look at dropping in any effects that you think may help.

When your happy, then its time to be critical of your own work and listen to it throughout. Take a break first and even get a mate to listen to it. Ask yourself questions such as did the bass line rock, did the loops work where they were supposed to etc. This helps to make your track better and mean that you will be on course for creating stomping dance tracks into the future.

Harbinger opens with an outstanding track, Happy Home, that I anticipate will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It’s a really nice track.

Harbinger is a pleasantly varied, mix of 14 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are her own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

If you’re a Paula Cole fan this is a CD your collection flat cannot be without. In fact, this is one of those CDs that you don’t even have to be a fan of Cole, or even Rock to know is good. It’s just good music. Period.

While this entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 4 - Watch The Woman's Hands, track 12 - She Can't Feel Anything Anymore, and track 14 - The Ladder.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Happy Home. Great track!

P2P Networks: The dangers of Kazaa and other file sharing platforms explained. http://www.articletrader.com/entertainment/music/p2p-networks-the-dangers-of-kazaa-and-other-file-sharing-platforms-explained.html http://www.articletrader.com/entertainment/music/p2p-networks-the-dangers-of-kazaa-and-other-file-sharing-platforms-explained.html Sun, 03 Jun 2007 00:00:00 -0500
Using Kazaa and other peer-to-peer networking programs can be alluring to the uneducated user. The Music is within easy grasp, the clients are simple to use, and even the communication aspects are things that people find irresistible. But before you delve into the world of music downloading, there are a few things that every user needs to know. Through proper information we can be forewarned. And forewarned is forearmed.

P2P networks are a breeding ground for viruses and malicious software

When you first install Kazaa or any other peer-to-peer networking programs, the first thing that crosses most of our minds is the music we’re thinking of downloading. What we should be asking though, is what dangers are involved and is it worth the risk of using this software! It’s time to get forewarned people!

The first thing that needs to be understood is that installing this software gives any potential viruses an entry point into our computers. It’s through P2P programs that viruses are able to bypass the general security software on our computers, such as firewalls and anti-virus software. These security systems do have flaws, especially when you’re basically opening the door and letting these critters roam on in.

All of these viruses have only two functions, but it’s enough to do a lot of damage. The first function is to replicate and spread to other users, and the second is to carry out the objective they were programmed to perform. The objective can be anything from erasing data that screws up different programs in you’re computer, it can make your computer difficult to load by using your system’s resources, and it can even cause programs and files to completely disappear.

For example, the ‘My doom’ virus recently got a foothold into Kazaa and spread at a ferocious rate. The virus would sit in someone’s download folder and assume the name of a popular file. That file would then be downloaded by another user, and the infection would keep spreading until it got out of hand. The result, 1000’s of people with damaged computer systems, and a lot of frustrated users.

Music Download Reviews

What about Spyware?

Spyware is exactly as the name implies, (Spying Software). This spying software can usually be located within the P2P client itself, and it’s used to collect information that is later sold to various advertising companies. You know what that means right? Not only do you have viruses to worry about, you also got Kazaa violating your basic constitutional rights. It’s absolutely atrocious that these Kazaa and other companies are making money off the average user in this way

The RIAA

If you thought there were only two things to worry about, you were wrong. The Recording industry association of America is also out to get you. Their strategy to counter online piracy is to make an example of the people who use these programs. Don’t think for a second your safe, because 1000’s of people have already been slapped with lawsuits.

The RIAA finds out who you are by following a fairly simple process that leads to an eventual charge of copy right infringement. First, your IP is obtained from sharing music online. Second, a lawsuit is filed against a “john doe user”, because a specific name can’t be obtained from your IP address alone. Third, a subpoena is requested against your internet service provider, accepted, and your full name is given to the RIAA. Lastly, the RIAA will usually write a letter demanding a settlement, and if refused, the RIAA will then amend their lawsuit to name you as the John Doe user, and proceed with trial.

There have been 15,000 lawsuits filed since 2003, and the number is continuing to rise. The increasing number lawsuits is just another of the many dangers of using P2P networking for your source of music downloading.

Unfortunately, it’s not everyday that I get a CD for review that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Tusk. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Tusk is a nicely varied, mix of 20 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly outstanding musicians. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

I’m of the opinion that Tusk is certainly some of this groups best work in a few years. A totally enjoyable CD and an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up because it’s a collection that even the casual Rock fan can appreciate and enjoy.

While the entire CD is really very good some of my favorites are track 6 - What Makes You Think You're The One, track 15 - I Know I'm Not Wrong, and track 20 - Never Forget

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Over and Over. What a nice track!

Colorful Instruments: You and your kids can stand out in the crowd http://www.articletrader.com/entertainment/music/colorful-instruments-you-and-your-kids-can-stand-out-in-the-crowd.html http://www.articletrader.com/entertainment/music/colorful-instruments-you-and-your-kids-can-stand-out-in-the-crowd.html Wed, 29 Apr 2009 23:01:37 -0500
A few years ago the Jollysun manufacturer came out with a line of gorgeously colorful instruments. Their beauty caught everyone by surprise and sales have been flowing since. However do to the low amount of marketing, millions still do not know about these fantastic instruments.

Price~
One of the biggest attractions (apart from appearance) is the price point. These instruments are priced well bellow others. Not many places offer a Saxophone for $310, or a violin for $115.

Quality~
Although these are not considered to be the instrument of choice for experienced professionals they are surprisingly well made and will suit any child, adult, or anyone not willing to pay in the high hundreds to thousands for a hand crafted instrument.

Complaints~
The larges complaint the company has had involves the trumpets. Upon arrival the trumpet valves need to be oiled (oil provided) and they need to be played for awhile in order to loosen things up. They do play well once loosened and oiled up though. Next, do not expect fast shipping. These instruments actually ship from Dubai even though the manufacturer is in China. Apparently the Dubai post is not speedy. Along these lines you can also expect shipping to be a little more pricy.

Warranty~
These instruments come with a 30-day money back guarantee and a 1 year warranty. The only down fall to their refund policy is that they do not pay return shipment costs. However, if they ship a replacement part to you they will do so for free.

Highly Recommended~
Over-all, I do highly recommend these instruments. For the price you are getting a great instrument that also stands out in the crowd from others! These make GREAT presents!!

The only US store that carries the Jollysun instruments is www.oozlesinstruments.com

Or, you can find them on Amazon for the same price.
