Many retail outlets with specialist wedding services now offer comprehensive online wedding portals on their sites, in order to help you plan your wedding at your convenience - all from the comfort of your living room. For instance, you'll definitely want to try on your own wedding dress to make sure you've got the perfect fit. But if you're looking for dresses for your bridesmaids or flower girls, you might want to have a look at the selection available to you online first and, if you find the perfect bridesmaids dresses for your wedding, you can buy them online.

Sometimes, you'll even be able to buy crucial items like wedding footwear and wedding jewellery for both you and your troupe of bridesmaids and flowers girls online. And if you're looking for a dress or trouser suit for the mother of the bride or an important female guest to wear, you'll be able to look for that online also. You'll even be able to browse things like wedding stationary, and get personalised wedding invitations, RSVP cards and personalised place cards to match - all online!

Increasingly, however, the most popular online wedding planning tool is a wedding gift list, and getting your wedding guests to consult your online wedding gift list can offer a range of benefits. For starters, you and your fiancé will be able to compile your list of potential wedding gifts from the convenience of your own home, instead of having to trawl through a variety of shops to find what you're looking for. It'll also cut down the environmental cost of having to print multiple copies of a wedding gift list to send out to all your friends and well-wishers.

Additionally, opting for an online wedding gift list will make it easier for your guests to buy your presents without fear of duplication, while many wedding gift list providers also provide gift wrapping services for an additional fee. So you won't just get the wedding presents that you've always wanted, you'll also receive them beautifully wrapped!

So enjoy the luxury of organising your wedding online - you might find the whole wedding planning experience a lot easier to bear!

The Bride Isn't Shy Anymore! http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/the-bride-isnt-shy-anymore.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/the-bride-isnt-shy-anymore.html Sat, 15 Dec 2007 00:00:00 -0600 wedding ideas – including the colors she chose for the bridesmaids' dresses, table linens, and everything else. Pastels were the norm, including soft pinks, pale blues, and mint greens. Everything, especially wedding colors, was subtle and seen as feminine.

Today's modern bride has redefined that word. She is probably someone that has worked, and worked hard. She juggles her own career ambitions while not giving up her desire for a home and family. A blushing bride she is not!

And this is being reflected in her choices for wedding colors, in accessories and other items. Over the past few years, colors have become stronger and deeper. Mint green has been traded for hunter or forest shades. Pale blue has given way to navy or royal. Everything has become bolder, deeper, stronger – just like the bride herself. It's not unusual to see the once taboo wedding colors choice of black or fire engine red to be worked into a wedding décor, and sometimes even those two colors together.

The choices for colors at a wedding are no greater indication of a bride's personality, and this trend of the strong and independent woman isn't going to go away anytime soon, and neither is the choice for stronger and bolder wedding colors.

However, this isn't to say that today's bride is so strong that she's become unapproachable, or that she is choosing strong colors just for the sake of how strong they are. One of the hottest trends in wedding colors today is shades of warm brown and tan. Even for wedding dresses, the bride herself may choose a sash or bow of russet or auburn shades.

The brown family of colors is closely associated with warm, nurturing foods– think of coffee, cocoa, and chocolate. Brown is often seen in nature, another element of nurturing and caring. Even in the application of feng shui, it's encouraged to use shades of brown in rooms where you want to feel relaxed and comforted, such as the living room or bedroom. By selecting wedding colors of these darker shades, the bride may be expressing her nurturing, caring, warm side.

The same could be said of the many shades of green that are fast becoming available. No longer does the bride only have the choice of mint or pale green, but now bridesmaids' dresses and table linens are being offered in stronger shades of celery, jade, and emerald. Hunter and forest greens are also popular, and also may be seen as strong but nurturing. These are two shades also abundantly available in nature, and the term "mother earth" was coined for a reason. When we think of nature or use shades found in nature, these are seen as warm and caring.

Jewel tones of any color are also very popular wedding colors, especially when planning a winter or holiday wedding. When choosing colors that are of a jewel tone, a bride can even mix up the shades for her table linens – emerald green and ruby red for a December wedding, for instance. Adding some sapphire blue and shades of gold can break up the colors and still keep the venue looking festive.

Of course, those brides who still prefer the softer wedding colors of the pastel family have a wealth of options for them. Softer colors never go out of style, and are still seen as being romantic and even passionate. Additionally, by choosing softer colors, the bride knows that they will not overwhelm the setting or theme of the wedding. If you have a large number of bridesmaids and a huge banquet hall, choosing colors such as red and black as your accent can be too powerful, and can even cause the bride herself to get lost in the pictures! The larger the venue and number of attendants, the softer the color shades should be. Of course, these wedding colors can be mixed and matched as well. A bride may opt for her attendants to be in soft pink while the maid of honor is in a darker shade of rose red or light purple. If opting for soft wedding colors, you don't want to make the mistake of having your venue or dresses look washed out or faded. A bride needs to make sure that there are some stronger accent colors to tie everything together.

In the end of course wedding colors are going to be a bride's choice and will no doubt reflect not just her personality but the prevailing trend at the time. Whatever her preferences for the wedding colors – shy and sweet pastels, bold and strong reds and blues, nurturing browns and greens – she has a wealth of options available to her today, and no longer needs to be shy about expressing her true personality in her wedding party!

How to Make the Right Choice for Your Interfaith Officiant? http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/how-to-make-the-right-choice-for-your-interfaith-officiant.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/how-to-make-the-right-choice-for-your-interfaith-officiant.html Mon, 11 May 2009 02:05:24 -0500
Legally qualified officiant
The officiant that you choose should be legally qualified to carryout wedding ceremonies. He or she should have at least officiated in a number of weddings either religious or civil. One who has officiated in weddings involving interfaith couples should be given preference over others.

Interfaith officiant
An interfaith officiant should know how to handle various aspects of religion in such wedding. Due to his or her knowledge of the various beliefs held by the two faiths, he or she can handle the ceremony without mistakenly favoring one side. The officiant can perform one part of the ceremony in one faith and end the other with the second faith. Or if possible, each faith can have an officiant doing their part alongside the other. This will work well for people who may not want to mix faiths. However, consultations between the two officiants and the couple on who conduct which part will be necessary.

Versatile officiant
Some of the interfaith officiants you will get may not be well versed with wedding customs and practices outside their own faith. These ones may only be in a position to administer simple marriage vows. Ensure that you yet a person who understands all needs of your ceremony.

Referral services
Online referral services are available and they should help you to get in touch with the appropriate officiant. Check to ensure that he has the qualifications that you want. Arrange a meeting with the officiant before the ceremony so as to clarify your needs and expectations. This will also ensure that you do not get an officiant from a city far away as it may result into more costs than one from your home town.

Consider a civil wedding
Civil weddings are the cheapest of all weddings. This is because they have no costs such as those encountered in church ceremonies, other religious weddings and reception. The only fee paid is that of the marriage certificate. The other good thing is that civil weddings are equally valid form of wedding under national or state laws. They can be used instead of interfaith wedding ceremonies especially in cases where the couple can not agree on which faith to go for in the wedding.

The normal procedure of blood test and availing witnesses also apply in this here. Officials involved in administering of vows include justices, judges and other legal officials permitted to join couples under the law. Prior arrangements should be made with official to schedule appointment for the occasion. One can still perform a religious ceremony after the civil wedding.

Everything You Need for Throwing a Wedding Shower at Home http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/everything-you-need-for-throwing-a-wedding-shower-at-home.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/everything-you-need-for-throwing-a-wedding-shower-at-home.html Thu, 18 Dec 2008 08:36:08 -0600 Throwing a wedding shower can be a very exciting event. When you begin planning a wedding shower in your home, there are a few steps to take and considerations to remember in order to throw a memorable wedding shower. Through careful planning, you can throw a terrific shower that can leave your friend, coworker or family members thrilled that you have contributed to their upcoming nuptials.

Picking a Date The first thing that you need to do when you are throwing a wedding shower at home is to pick a date for the big event. Although your own schedule plays a big part in this decision, the most important schedule to consider is the bride-to-be. Without the bride-to-be, you have no shower! Begin working with the bride-to-be around three months before her big day to select the perfect date for her wedding shower. This gives you enough time to find a date that is around a month before the big event.

In addition to the bride-to-be, you should consult with the special women in her life, including her mom, mother-in-law-to-be, sisters and aunts. Although you may not be able to find a date that suits every single person that may be invited, it is important for the key people in the bride’s life to be included. If there are people traveling from out of town to attend the wedding shower, you should start planning even earlier than three months prior to the wedding. This helps to provide your guests with enough time to plan their travel.

Inviting Guests Unless the wedding shower is a surprise, you may want to ask the bride-to-be for her guest list at the same time that you set a final date. If the shower is going to be a surprise for the bride-to-be, the best source for a wedding guest list is her mother, sisters/brothers, or closest friends. Invitations to a wedding shower should be sent about a month before the event. This gives those guests enough time to determine if they can attend, find wonderful presents for the bride-to-be and respond to the invitation.

Games, Gifts and Giveaways One key portion of a wedding shower is the games that are played. Many different games are appropriate for wedding showers and some have to do with testing the guests’ knowledge of the bride and groom. Others make predictions for the happy couple. Some other games that can be considered involve the guests splitting up into teams and playing a form of Pictionary or Charades. Some brides do not enjoy games, so you should check with the bride-to-be before planning.

The history of wedding showers were to gather gifts for the bride so that she was prepared with every household item she might need when leaving her parent’s home and going to the home of her husband. These days, most women live away from home before they marry and they may already have many of these essentials prior to the wedding. In any case, most brides-to-be create wedding registries to let guests know which items they desire for their new life. It is against protocol, however, for a bride to tell her guests where she is registered. That becomes your job as the host of her wedding shower. When you invite guests, you can either include an insert with the invitations, or can personally talk to each guest to let them know what registries have been created.

Giveaways can be a fun part of a wedding shower. First, it is a way to thank the guests for attending the special event and honoring the bride-to-be. Secondly, and more importantly, it gives guests a fun trinket to remember the wedding shower. Giveaways do not have to be terribly fancy or expensive. Consider the tastes of the bride, any themes she may be using for her wedding, and you may be able to pick out the perfect giveaway for the wedding shower. Often, little trinkets are selected that can hold candy inside. Other ideas include candles and items that can be personalized with the names of the happy couple.

Food

Your last consideration when you throw a wedding shower in your home is the food that you provide for your guests. To determine the appropriate food to serve, consider the time of day when the shower is going to occur. If the shower occurs near a major mealtime, you should provide a meal for your guests. For showers that are mid afternoon or early evening, it is appropriate to serve a variety of finger foods. If you know of any dietary restrictions for your guests, you should try to accommodate them. In addition, you should consider serving a snack for those attending the celebration. Cakes are a great choice for any type of celebration. You can contact your local bakery to ensure it is ready for the day of the bridal shower.

Ice Sculptures at Your Wedding http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/ice-sculptures-at-your-wedding.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/ice-sculptures-at-your-wedding.html Sat, 09 May 2009 07:00:26 -0500
To make the wedding reception even more colorful, consider ice sculptures as a beauty enhancer in the event. Ice sculptures are increasingly becoming a common feature in wedding receptions and the ambiance that they bring is magical. It only matters where you place or station them so that people can fully appreciate them and laud your sense of class.

Like the name suggest, ice sculptures are made of ice. This therefore means that the lifespan of the sculpture is wholly dependent on the prevailing temperature. It would therefore be foolhardy to have an ice sculpture in a summer wedding with no cooler to preserve it. They are also very delicate so the placement of the sculpture is vital, because it has to be somewhere where there is not a lot activity as they might get knocked over. But it has somewhere vantage where every guest can see them in their full splendor.

Ice sculptures come in all sizes and shapes depending on what you want designed for your wedding. Let the sculpture be thematic or symbolizing something for the big day or even for your marriage ahead. You can choose to have an ice sculpture denoting the love between the bride and groom. This can be through an intertwined hearts sculpture to signify the bond between them. A crystalline dove will also bring and denote an aura of peace and tranquility in that marriage which is a very positive first step into married life.

A magnificent swan too is a choice, and you could have them in twos again to signify the marital bond in the newly-weds. You can be experimental in your sculpture ideas and designers are able to come with the most elaborate of designs from the most simple to the most complex. A replica of the wedding cake is also an enticing thought complete with crystalline icing [no pun intended.] Or even have that Cinderella shoe placed strategically to symbolize the beauty and elegance of the bride.

Ice sculpturing is an art and you have to look for the best creators who will make your design. They should be able to design it to your complete specifications whether you want a complex cruise ship sculpture or just a simple flickering candle. Being out of the ordinary in your wedding reception is the key to being outstanding and not passing for just another wedding. A crystalline ice sculpture will capture and captivate your guests' minds. So with your wedding just around the corner, hit ice sculpture creators and start preparing a magnificent piece for that big day.

Wedding Photography Defined: Wedding Photographers in Orange County http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/wedding-photography-defined--wedding-photographers-in-orange-county.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/wedding-photography-defined--wedding-photographers-in-orange-county.html Mon, 10 Nov 2008 00:00:00 -0600
Traditional wedding photography or "classic" style photography has been around the longest and is falling out of favor with brides because it typically comprises of posed shots. Your photographer will usually follow a list of required shots: Bride and Groom, Groom and Dad, Groom and wedding party....you get the idea. Traditioanl photographers usually are quite talented in portraiture. Every detail will be in place and their subjects will look great Body alignment, lighting, dress details, and the background will be perfectly composed.

Wedding photojournalism has been extremely popular in the last few years. It aims to tell the story of the wedding through pictures. A good wedding photojournalist will be able to depict emotion and allow a stranger looking at your pictures to to feel as if they were at your wedding. The problem is, every photographer out there claims to be a wedding photographer specializing in photojournalism. If you are looking for a photojournalist to shoot your wedding, the most important thing to do is to look at their work. Ask yourself if you see and feel the emotion of the day. Ask them how many weddings they've photographed. A true professional has shot hundreds of weddings, not just 20-25. Also, don't expect them to be looking at a list of "required shots." You will want them to be behind the camera capturing all the details of the day. Would you prefer a picture of Aunt Bertha in a conga line or would you want one of her standing there with a forced smile?

Black and white photos, sepia, or color? Black and white photography is timeless and is making a comeback with brides. But, in the end, it really is up to you. With digital photography these days, your photographer can just as easily produce a color, black and white, or sepia toned image for you.

Engagement photography is a way for you to get to know your wedding photographer and a chance to get some great shots of you and your fiance before the big day. Get to know their shooting style and have a great time at a beautiful location of your choice. Engagement photography should be a stress free experience. The most important thing is to make sure that you have fun! It will definitely show in your pictures!

Mother of the Groom Dresses http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/mother-of-the-groom-dresses.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/mother-of-the-groom-dresses.html Fri, 08 May 2009 15:24:56 -0500 Mother of the Groom dresses can be quite a challenge as you may have found, so here are some ideas to make your search easier and more enjoyable.

Firstly, you must have an idea in mind of what it is you want to wear. Searching for anything when you have no idea what you are looking for can be nothing short of confusing. If you make a Google search for 'wedding photos' it will bring up plenty of pictures for you to look through and get an idea of what other Mothers have worn and what in your opinion looks good and what does not.

Browsing through other people's wedding photos is one of the best and fastest ways to make your mind up about what Mother of the Groom dresses you like. You will also easily be able to see what colors go with and what colors clash with the Bridesmaids dresses, so that you select a color that compliments
the theme colors the Bride has chosen.

Once you have a good idea of what you are looking for, searching for any of the following phrases on the internet will turn up a great number of Mother of
the Groom dresses to choose from (you will notice that first on the list is actually a search for "Mother of the Bride dresses", this is because as you will see, that search happens to turn up far more choices than a Mother of the Groom dresses search):

Mother of the Bride dresses
Mother of the Groom dresses
Mother of the Groom gowns
Mother of the Bride outfits
Mother of the Bride suits
Plus size dresses
Formal evening dresses
Evening dresses

Ebay and Amazon are both great places to shop for clothes these days if you are thinking of buying over the internet, because they usually have a money back
guarantee and quick (sometimes even next day) delivery.

Your search will turn up many choices and if you are making your purchase over the internet from another shop, just be sure to check their policies first. That said, internet shopping is becoming more and more popular because it is just so quick and easy.

Have a fabulous time!

Hot Styles of Destination Wedding Invitations http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/hot-styles-of-destination-wedding-invitations.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/weddings/hot-styles-of-destination-wedding-invitations.html Thu, 11 Dec 2008 23:04:05 -0600
Many weddings are held in tropical location or at the beach. Beach weddings are fun and natural, so look for a destination wedding invitation that matches. For example, an Enchanting Sands wedding invitation or a Shells of Love wedding invitation informs your guests right away that you are getting married on the beach. Perhaps you love the sun and water but not the sand. If you are getting married on a boat, choose an invitation, like the Ocean Liner wedding invitation that matches your big day.

A beach wedding provides an excellent theme for your wedding invitations and this location is a fun place to host a wedding. That said, it is not very specific, since there are hundreds of beaches around the world. You can find wedding invitations instead that showcase the country or city you are visiting for your wedding. For example, a Bamboo Breeze wedding invitation is reminiscent of Asia. By alluding to your location with the design, you are also setting the stage of your destination-wedding announcement.

You can also choose to theme your destination wedding invitations around the weather you should be experiencing at your wedding. Not all wedding destinations are warm and sunny! You might love the idea of a Winter Wonderland wedding invitation for a wedding that is taking place in a beautiful icy location like Aspen. On the other hand, if your wedding is in a warm location, you can choose an invitation with a sunny design. It is up to you and your preferences!

Of course, you can get even more specific if you want and show off the exact city of your wedding with the design of your wedding invitation. Las Vegas is the most well known destination wedding location and if you are getting married in this city, you can choose a fun Vegas-themed destination wedding invitation design.

It is also popular to not be too overt with your destination wedding invitation design. Although some people like to be clear that they are getting married in the mountains or by the shore, you can also choose to pick a more traditional style of wedding invitation. Staying true to the mood of your wedding is important, but your wedding invitation does not have to be covered with seashells to give off a vibe that is casual, flowing, and fresh. You can search for a traditional-style wedding invitation instead.

Sometimes, colors work best. Are you getting married outside in a beautiful garden? Choosing bright greens and whites can make for a nice design. Are you having a wedding in the fall forests in a mountain setting? The burnt orange, brown, and gold colors of fall are perfect for your destination invitation.

Keep in mind that you may want to send two invitations in case you decide to have a small ceremony for those who could not travel at the time of the wedding. This can allow you to celebrate with friends and family members who could not afford the trip, had scheduling conflicts, or were not healthy enough to travel. So, when ordering your destination wedding invitations, keep in mind that you may be sending two invitations in the same envelope. You can also choose to send the invitations separately, but they should relate to one another to avoid too much confusion.

Not every couple is lucky enough to have a destination wedding. While most would agree that a beautiful paradise destination would be a nice backdrop for one of the most important days of their lives, at the same time, it is also important that all of their loved ones be present at the ceremony, which is not always possible with a destination wedding. If you do choose to have your ceremony away from home, however, consider the hot new trend of destination wedding invitations. They can help to announce you wedding plans to your guests in a fun, beautiful way.

A destination wedding can take place anywhere and your wedding invitations should reflect this location. Colors are an important aspect of the destination wedding invitation. You should choose colors that reflect the area such as light blue for a beach wedding. Another option is to include a picture of the location, as this can help prepare your guests for what they should expect upon arriving at the destination. Whichever invitations you eventually decide on for your wedding, be sure to allow your guests enough time to plan the trip.
