Clinical Negligence Compensation is a NecessitySubmitted by David Salt Thu, 27 Aug 2009
Clinical negligence is a common cause for the claiming of compensation as it concerns the standard of care provided by a doctor, nurse, dentist and/or the national health service in general. If a patient has suffered from medical negligence that has in some way left them with a low standard of health or a worse off and uncomfortable standard of living. It is these patients who are given the right to contact a solicitor and make a claim for compensation based on various kinds of negligence by the medical professional who was given charge of there health. The medical negligence can vary from the wrong diagnosis or medication to below average hygiene standards in the operating theatre. Once reported case of clinical negligence, where a patient has been able to make a clinical negligence claim for compensation comes from a girl called 'Vicki'.
Vicki was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer in her right leg and underwent a series of chemotherapy and surgery in order to save her leg and from the cancer spreading. As a result Vicki had to have leg removed below her knee and therefore left physically impaired. It was then revealed less than a year later that the medical professionals had made the wrong diagnosis and Vicki did not actually have any form of cancer in her right leg. Because Vicki was left immobile due to an incorrect diagnosis it was evident to her that a clinical negligence claim must be made. Vicki won her case and received a six figure compensation reward that in turn helped her to afford special fittings for her home, a prosthetic limb and help pay for the repetitive physiotherapy that she needed to learn how to walk on an artificial limb. It is cases like these where claims for compensation need to be made, not necessarily for the win of a lot of money that can be spent on luxuries, but money that can be spent on the necessities that will help a person live comfortably with the long term damage that has been caused by clinical negligence.
