It's a Small World of Antivirus SoftwareSubmitted by David Salt Mon, 27 Apr 2009
It's a small world after all and the modern age of technology is doing its part to make it smaller every day. Computers link us all from the largest cities to the smallest villages. And just as jets help transport human viruses around the globe, the internet spreads computer viruses at the speed of light.
The only vaccine to save your megabyte buddy is antivirus software. Many new PC's come with good antivirus software already installed. Even so, make sure that the software installed on your machine meets your needs. If not, you may wish to purchase a package separately. There are many software packages available, ranging in price from free downloads to a one-time purchase price an annual fee. Not all antivirus software is rated equally, so before purchasing or downloading, be sure you understand exactly what the software protects against and whether or not it scans for viruses that may already be present on your computer. Free downloads come in many varieties from the very basic System Checkup to the five star rated K7 computing, a comprehensive scanner that goes beyond viruses to spyware other system vulnerabilities This software scans for outdated software and alerts you when your programmes are outdated or are no longer supported, helping to clean up old files and keep your machine running at its best. These downloads can be very effective and one really can't beat the price! Another annoyance brought into your computer from cyber space is cookies. A software to search specifically for cookies is Zone Labs Security Scanners. It is another free antivirus software download available online to keep your computer running smoothly. These are just a few of the free downloads available. Again, there are many products on the market. But, not all antivirus software does the same things, so be proactive when shopping. And just because the software is free, don't assume it isn't effective. However, you would be best guarded against computer viruses with paid software. About the Author
