Paediatric First Aid is a Must Read Topic for Parents of Young ChildrenSubmitted by Johnkad Fri, 19 Jun 2009
The market in the UK for educational and informative guides and books relating to pregnancy, childbirth, babies and young children is massive. These days it is very common for pregnant individuals and/or couples to throw themselves wholeheartedly into a range guide books covering all stages of pregnancy and childbirth and indeed the first stages of a child's life and development. Parents of today like to be well informed and prepared, secure in the knowledge they are doing what is best for their baby.
How many of these proactive, seemingly prepared parents to be, also spend time reading and learning about what to do in an emergency first aid situation? How many of them would know how to administer paediatric first aid on their child? Guide books and education resources are available on this subject, as are specific training courses including a new online learning resource from the British Red Cross. The new computer tool covers a number of topics and offers a range of materials, including videos, quizzes, animations, audio and downloadable resources. Something like this is a fantastic resource and Joe Milligan the head of first aid services said "This great new resource demonstrates just how easy it is to pick up life-saving and vital first aid skills". She also added "It will enable busy parents to lean first aid in their own homes at their own pace". The new tool can be accessed by logging onto the Children First Aid website at childrenfirstaid.redcross.org.uk. Whilst these online learning resources are marvelous interactive learning tools, they are not immediately to hand and cannot be used as quick reference guides. For instance, in an actual emergency situation, they are not easily accessible, certainly not as easily accessed as a hard copy paediatric first aid manual kept in the home alongside a paediatric or family first aid kit. Indeed a paediatric or family first aid guide should be sat on the bookshelf alongside all of the other baby and family reference guides or kept securely with the family first aid kit. A range of first aid kits and guidance manuals are available and as with any other pregnancy or child related purchase, a bit of research and thought needs to go in to make sure the right choice is made. First aid kits and manuals can usually be purchased from baby and childrens product retailers but it is probably advisable to shop around the leading suppliers of first aid products and accessories as well. This way you can ensure that you are buying a first aid kit and manual that is actually designed to fit its true purpose, rather than something that is possibly designed to me more gimmicky than truly practical. A good range of family first aid kits and accessories are available to browse and purchase online from First Aid Warehouse, the UK's leading online supplier of first aid and medical equipment. A specialist in their field, the kits manufactured and supplied by First Aid Warehouse are informed, practical and completed to the highest standards. Their trading partners are among the best in the industry which is why they can offer an extensive range of additional first aid equipment and accessories at fantastic prices.
