Soy Candles, The Perfect Addition To Any Home!Submitted by vb31259 Fri, 22 May 2009
Soy candles are candles created from soy wax instead of paraffin wax or beeswax. Soy wax is a relatively new alternative choice used in candle making. Soy wax is made from soybeans. It is a renewable and cost effective wax, high in protein. Soy wax is emerging as the most promising natural wax available. Beeswax is another natural wax, another paraffin alternative, but it's much too expensive to use 100% beeswax in candles.
The production of soy candles is a great boost to the American farmer. A soy candle is 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly. The use of soy in candles can greatly benefit agriculture. Soy candles last three times longer than petroleum-based wax candles, have an incredible scent and burn cleaner, since they burn creating minimal soot. There are many benefits of soy candles. They are environmentally friendly candles since they are made with soy wax, which is created from soybeans. Soy candles are natural, cleaner burning than paraffin based candles and are perfect for all occasions or gift giving. They burn slower than paraffin candles making them last longer, up to 50% longer than petroleum based candles. The soy absorbs fragrance better than paraffin, so the fragrance lasts as long as the candle. A soy candle burns cooler than a paraffin candle, reducing burn severity if you happen to spill wax on your hands. The wax can be cleaned off without leaving a blister. Soy wax can be removed from clothing and tablecloths by using soap and water, so these candles do not ruin articles if accidentally knocked over. You may have heard or read from candle manufacturers that natural soy candles are soot free. That is a misconception. There are no candles that are 100% soot free. Natural, soy candles DO have less soot, but they are not soot free. Anytime there is combustion along with a flame, you will have soot. This is true for soy candles as well as paraffin wax candles. When dyes or fragrances are added, this also increases soot. Wicks that are kept trimmed will produce less soot. Please follow the soy candle First Burn Directions to ensure your soy candles burn efficiently. Our soy candles are highly fragrant and dye-free. They produce much less soot than traditional wax candles, but remember, they will produce some soot. You will not see the thick, black ring on jars common to paraffin candles, and there will not be black soot damage to your home, but there may be some soot. Soy candles are becoming more and more popular. Support American farmers and Go-Green by giving soy candles a try! About the Author
