Cable lighting is a variation of track lighting where the fixtures are suspended from un-insulated cables that carry low voltage. The fixtures used can range from very simple—such as two-hinged rods—to artful like the human silhouette, whose hands hold the socket while the feet touch the wires.

Cable track lighting is prepared using two sets of cables that are connected together with short wires that have clips at either end. They are low-voltage lighting system where the wire that provide the electricity is a pair of cables.

When used in a room, cable track lighting can add a unique decorating touch. It can be used to provide indirect outdoor lighting and indoor. Since the cable used is very cheap and easy to prepare, it can be used anywhere. Its purpose is limitless.

Many people use cable lighting for decorating, accentuating and safety reasons. Commonly they are used in places where the mounting surface is truly a challenge. Rooms that have high ceilings, cathedral, vaulted ceilings and ceilings that are interrupted with soffits, ductwork or beams may use for short runs of twenty feet, which are installed from wall to wall without any vertical support at all.

If there are places that need longer cable runs longer than twenty feet, additional vertical support is required to avoid unnecessary tension from stressing the mounting points on the wall. If the ceilings are flat and standard, cable track lighting is preferred over other linear lighting systems like the monorail or traditional track lighting systems.

Cable lighting is perfect for task lighting, accent lighting and decorative lighting. To achieve balance in lighting, cable lighting should be accompanied by other lighting system or sources of light. Because it can be installed and moved around with ease, they are ideal for art galleries and places that need focal point light to move often.

Generally, you can see cable track lighting in the restaurants and museums. However today, many homeowners are seeing the beauty, comfort and convenience that this humble lighting system provides. In winter, cable track lighting plays a key role in decorative lighting for indoor and outdoor.

Cable is strung along the roofline with shingle clips producing spectacular winter holiday scenery. And since they are quite cheap, they are the excellent options for decorating homes for less.

Cable lighting does very well to light dark paths or drive that leads to your house. You will only have to run the cable down the perimeters of the path with the help of ground stakes to hold the length of the lighting fixture in place. It not only add a distinguished look to your property, but serves to guide people to your house.

Many boat sailing enthusiasts also use cable track lighting not only to lighten their docks and decks, but also to cause admirable glances from boaters in the evening. Stringing a cable light along the edges of the dock can be very stunning especially when the illumination reaches the waters.

--
Come to http://www.mylamps.com to see all the cable lighting fixtures.
Tarps For Covering Roofs

Since their invention, people have been using tarps for covering roofs. They are an indispensable emergency tool when bad weather causes roof damage. Weekend projects, such as building a small potting shed, can be covered and put on hold when budget or time constraints occur. Architectural projects, such as the building of a new home or business, can be protected from the elements by securing a tarp over the open areas. Mobile homes, camping trailers, RV's, and even buses have had their roofs covered and protected by Tarps

Relatively inexpensive budget tarps can be found at virtually any grocery store, discount chain, or retail outlet. These tarps, which are typically blue, provide a quick solution to an otherwise bad situation. Consumers choose budget tarps for covering roofs of sheds, weekend projects, damaged areas on their homes, and many others. These tarps are designed to work for a short period of time, for specific projects, or for periodic protection.

Industrial grade, heavy duty tarps, on the other hand, are sturdy and quite durable. They work best for long-term projects, not-so-temporary emergencies, and in areas where protection is of upmost importance. While they are more expensive, heavy duty tarps for covering roofs provides the consumer with greater peace of mind. These tarps are also used to protect semi-trucks and their cargo, which further testifies to the durability of the industrial grade variety.

Tarps come in all shapes and sizes, from the long rectangle to the table-top square. No other product on the market today can provide the same level of protection than a tarp. From the smallest weekend storage shed project to the largest manufacturing plant, structures have been covered and protected from water damage for decades thanks to the tarp.

It is a great quick-fix idea to use tarps for covering roofs, but they can also be used for many other reasons. For example, some truck owners keep a tarp folded up and stored behind their seat for use on rainy days or to cover precious cargo. Other consumers use tarps to cover motorcycles, boats, RV's, farm equipment, or other machinery. Some ranch owners keep a supply of tarps in case weather causes damage to their barns or livestock buildings. Gardeners find that tarps are one of the best mulching tools available, especially in the aisles between plant rows. And, while the uses of tarps continue to grow every day, the fact still remains that their best use involves covering roofs of all shapes and sizes

--
Robert Page has worked in the Tarps industry for over twenty years. During this time Robert has gained a wealth of knowledge of the tarps community.
Curtains are an essential piece of any room decor. The evolution of consumers from bystander to active interior design participant has led to an increase in options for curtain design. With such a variety of colors, fabrics and patterns to choose from, it is helpful to consider several things when shopping for curtains and drapes:

1.) The length of a curtain should be sufficient to reach the bottom of the windowsill or the floor, whichever the consumer prefers.

2.) Keep the width of a curtain reasonable to prevent difficulty in drawing the fabric back and the pick-up of debris and dust from the floor.

3.) Puddling curtains get their name from the fabric piled or puddled at the floor level. These curtains must be measured longer to promote the puddling effect.

4.) Never cover any heat generating electronics or radiators with curtains to prevent increased risk of fire.

5.) Make a decision early based on the windowsill and surrounding wall area whether the curtain will be rod hung, ceiling hung or sliding on a tab top.

6.) The curtains will be visible from the outside. Make considerations for the curb appeal of your residence or building.

7.) Sheers can be used in addition to curtains or independently to allow extra light into a room.

8.) Curtain rods should match the tie backs if both pieces of hardware are in the design plans.

9.) Keep curtain heads at the same level throughout the home, whether that be ceiling length or at the top of the window sill. This prevents a break in continuity through the interior spaces.

10.) The color of any fabric will change or fade over time, especially when exposed to regular direct sunlight

Aside from these 10 pointers, be sure to keep a budget in mind when shopping for Curtains and drapes. There are many options available for shopping on-line, wholesale or retail that enable incredible selection at competitive pricing. Installation for most blinds will cost additional money beyond the purchase. Consumers with the appropriate equipment may be able to hang curtains themselves.

--
The Natural Curtain Company supply made-to-measure curtains, Roman blinds and curtain fabric online.
Having a central air conditioner not only cools your home on a hot day, but also can reduce the humidity levels in your home. By moving the warm air that has accumulated inside your home that leaves the cooler air to be circulated through your existing duct system that is present for your furnace.

Air Conditioning Basics

All air conditioners, whether cooling a room or an entire house, operate on the same principle. An air conditioner cools your home with a cold indoor coil called the evaporator. The condenser, a hot outdoor coil, releases the collected heat outside. The evaporator and the condenser are coils of copper tubing surrounded by aluminum cooling fins. A pump moves the refrigerant between the evaporator and the condenser. Liquid refrigerant evaporates in the indoor coil pulling heat from the air and then moves to the outdoor coils where heat is released and the refrigerant is reverted back to a liquid where the process is repeated.

Care and Maintenance

Routine care of your air conditioner ensures that it runs efficiently and will ultimately extend the life of your unit which should last around 15 years with proper maintenance. One step that you can take to ensure your air conditioner is running at its highest efficiency include checking all tubing for leaks and ensuring that the condensate tube is draining freely. A second tip is to change the filter monthly while in use, especially during the summer months when dust and allergens are prevalent.

Thirdly, keep an adequate distance around the air conditioner unit (approximately two feet) free from shrubbery or plants to maintain adequate air flow around the unit. A final maintenance tip is to keep furniture away from and vacuum vents and registers or grills regularly and consider having your ducts professionally cleaned every few years.

Preparing for Purchase

When preparing to purchase a new air conditioner for your home there are several considerations which should be taken into account including efficiency, size, noise, and warranty. The efficiency of the air conditioner is measured by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). The higher the number of SEER, the better the energy performance, and an increase of 1 SEER indicates a 10% increase in efficiency and a 10% reduction in costs. The size of air conditioner that should be purchased is affected by many different variables including the size of your home and how many windows, skylights, and people are in the home. The best way to have your best air conditioner size established is by having a professional evaluate and determine your needs.

The sound of an air conditioner turning on or off is an easily recognizable sound by many, but not a sound that you must put up with in order to cool your home. Newer air conditioners are able to operate much more quietly and efficiently while being able to operate virtually unseen. As with the purchase of any product it is important to understand the warranty that is offered with your purchase. Included in the warranty and what you should be aware of are whether the parts are included with labour or simply one or the other. Also, the length of the warranty should be determined prior to you purchasing an air conditioner from your provider.

--
Charlton & Hill Limited and Charlton & Hill Welding Ltd. would be pleased to provide you with quotations and service and advice in any of our areas of specialization. Lethbridge Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, Fireplaces and Water Heaters.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

With fireplaces, the name of the game is options. Fireplaces are available with energy sources including wood burning, or gas powered appliances. Other options include having a traditional fireplace, a freestanding stove, or an insert installed in an existing fireplace.

Fuel Options

Using natural gas as the source of fuel for your fireplace provides a clean and efficient method of heating your home or creating a desired ambience. While using gas as the fuel for your fireplace, your are able to adjust the temperature of the fireplace and the heat emitted by the fireplace with a simple touch of the controls. Other benefits of a gas fireplace include a continuously present fuel supply, the presence of an on/off switch, cleanliness, elimination of chimney cleaning, decreased chance of fumes entering the room, and the environmental benefits as compared to a conventional wood fireplace.

The traditional wood burning fireplace provides an unbeaten beauty to your home and a scent that is next to impossible to recreate with an alternative fuel option. Using wood as your source of fuel differs from using oil or gas because it is a renewable resource. As a tree grows, it absorbs the carbon dioxide in the air and stores it in the wood as carbon. As the wood is burned the carbon dioxide is again release into the atmosphere, however the same amount is released as would be if a tree fell in the forest and was left to rot. Using wood as a heating source is efficient in that we are using a renewable resource; however, we must ensure that the forests are maintained to ensure that the trees are present to absorb the carbon dioxide once again.

Appliances

A traditional fireplace is a cavity built into a wall taking up no extra space in the home. A free standing fireplace, also called a stove, is not built into the framework of the home and therefore uses floor space. An insert is installed into an existing fireplace to provide a more efficient wood or gas fireplace.

Purchasing Considerations

When choosing a fireplace to purchase for your home, there are several considerations that you should think about prior to your purchase. The first topic to deliberate is your choice of fuel and what you prefer to have present in your home. The second item to contemplate is how big the area is that you will be heating. Having the most efficient gas fireplace in a smaller living area will quickly heat up the room. Even when turning the fireplace down to the lowest setting the room can remain uncomfortably warm while decreasing the beauty of the fireplace and flame at the same time.

A third consideration is whether there is already an existing fireplace in your home. Will you be putting the fireplace in the existing spot, installing an insert, changing to a stove, or creating a functional fireplace from one that was previously blocked off? A final consideration is the look that you want for your home. A more contemporary look may be very stylish now but it has more potential to date itself and seem out of place quickly.

--
Charlton & Hill Limited and Charlton & Hill Welding Ltd. would be pleased to provide you with quotations and service and advice in any of our areas of specialization. Lethbridge Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, Fireplaces and Water Heaters.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

If you live in a colder climate a form of heating is required to keep your home a comfortable living temperature. Although forms of heating the home have been existence as long as people have been living in a colder climate, means of heating the home have become more refined and efficient.

The two basic forms of heating a home include a central or a local system with a central system being the most standard method. While a central system creates the heat in a central location and then distributes it throughout the house, a local system produces the heat in the separate and specific locations and heats only that small area.

Heating Basics

Furnaces are important in heating your home during the colder months as well as working with your air conditioning system to cool your home during the warmer time of the year. Furnaces work by combusting oil or gas which creates heat as a by-product of that reaction which is distributed throughout the home in an air distribution system. The ductwork throughout a home carries and disperses the conditioned air and the flue or vent pipe releases the by-products, such as carbon dioxide and water vapour, outside the home.
Preparing for Purchase

When preparing to purchase a new furnace for your home there are several considerations which should be taken into account including efficiency, size, noise, and warranty. The efficiency of the furnace is measured by the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE). Older furnaces can have an AFUE anywhere from 50% - 60%, whereas a new furnace can have an AFUE of up to 96%. This means that by keeping an older furnace in use, 46% of the heat produced can escape from your home. The size of furnace that should be purchased is affected by many different variables including the size of your home and how many windows, skylights, and people are in the home. The best way to have your best furnace size established is by having a professional evaluate and determine your heating needs.

The sound of a furnace turning on or off is an easily recognizable sound by many, but not a sound that you must put up with in order to heat your home.
Indoor running water became available in the developed world late in the 19th century however wasn't common until the mid-20th century. Residential plumbing includes working with pipes, tubing and plumbing fixtures for drinking water systems and the drainage of waste in the home.

Plumbing Basics

All plumbing systems require two separate subsystems, one which brings in fresh water while the other ensures that the sewage or wastewater is removed from the home. Water enters the home under pressure to ensure its ability to travel upstairs, around corners and out appliances. Although cold water is immediately available from the main water supply, heated water requires the additional step of being warmed in the water heater.

A thermostat on the water heater turns the heater on and off as the temperature needs to be increased or maintained. Traditionally water is maintained at 140-160 degrees Fahrenheit although 120 degrees is usually warm enough to complete all required tasks unless a dishwasher requires higher temperatures. Keeping your water at a lower temperature is also a more economical choice as it requires less energy to maintain the temperature.

Drainage Systems

Regardless of whether your home uses a sewage or septic system, the principles of drainage systems remain the systems. While incoming water requires pressure to complete its tasks, drain water uses gravity to ensure that all used water makes its way to the sewage network or to your septic tank. Despite sounding relatively simple there are many aspects which require prior knowledge in order to have the system work smoothly.

Vents installed on the roof of your house allow air to enter the pipes permitting the drain water to leave the house properly instead of requiring siphoning to be removed. Traps can be seen under every sink and are the S shaped portion of pipe. Basins drain the water with enough force to go through the trap however enough water stays in the pipeline to prevent sewer gas from entering the home. Specific traps that can be found in the bathtub or under the kitchen sink collect hair and grease which are common causes of clogged pipes.

Supply vs. Drainage

Ensuring that all supply water is kept strictly away from all drainage water is a crucial component of plumbing. The bridge between supply and drain water are called fixtures. Examples of fixtures include sinks, toilets, bathtubs, washing machines and even an outdoor faucet. Although not every fixture has its own shut off valve, some fixtures such as a sink or a toilet will. By shutting this valve will stop the supply of water to that specific fixture, a main valve is also present in every home that will turn off the water supply to the entire residence. Ensuring that the supply valve is turned off prior to attempting any plumbing venture is very important and educating all residences of your household on the location of these valves can prevent future water damage.

--
Charlton & Hill Limited and Charlton & Hill Welding Ltd. would be pleased to provide you with quotations and service and advice in any of our areas of specialization. Lethbridge Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, Fireplaces and Water Heaters.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
