Today's Chiropractic Solutions Treat Various Health Problems Non-invasive and drug-free methods of health careSubmitted by bsullivan Thu, 28 May 2009
Chiropractors treat people who suffer from a variety of health issues. And, more and more people are seeking the help that chiropractors have to offer because most treatment methods are drug-free and non-invasive solutions.
When the body aches and there's pain, it's your body's way of sending a signal that something is wrong. Physical, emotional and everyday stress can all contribute to what chiropractors refer to as "a defensive posture." Posture Yourself The way you sit, stand or carry yourself, can reveal a lot. For instance, it can reveal underlying problems that may go unnoticed for years. With a simple, yet thorough exam, a chiropractor can find subluxations (one or more vertebrae out of alignment) and offer non-invasive solutions for relief. And, by applying one of these chiropractic treatments, the body may heal itself. Chiropractic Solutions Some drug-free, non-invasive treatments include: cold laser therapy, spinal decompression, atlas orthogonal care, physiotherapy, spinal rehabilitation, and basic exercise instruction to ensure that problems do not reoccur. Here is a list of treatments and the conditions they can help to resolve: Cold Laser Therapy Cold laser therapy is defined as the use of low-intensity or low levels of laser light to treat chronic inflammatory joint pain, arthritis, sprains and strains, sports' injuries, and TMJ. This new treatment is fast becoming a standard in treating musculoskeletal pain and inflammation as well as promoting tissue repair wherever the laser beam is applied. Cold laser therapy has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. It increases the blood supply, and relieves acute and chronic pain. While stimulating the immune system, cold laser therapy aids the body to heal at a more rapid rate. This therapy does not require constant treatment as do other types of medical treatments. Spinal Decompression Spinal decompression addresses herniated discs, bulging discs, facet syndrome, degenerative joint disease, pinched nerves, and chronic lower back or neck pain. It also helps with peripheral neuropathies and radiating pain. Spinal decompression is delivered through the use of a spinal decompression table, such as the ATX 2, which is an innovative pain-relief table that is used by only the most advanced chiropractic facilities. The chiropractor is aided by a state-of-the-art microprocessor which places the patient in the perfect position for optimal results. Patients experience a quicker recovery rate and can return to a more normal lifestyle. Atlas Orthogonal Care Only the most advanced chiropractors offer this treatment. The atlas is the top bone of the human spine and is prone to misalignment. And, when the atlas is out of alignment it can cause many health problems. All the nerves in the human body pass through the atlas, and when misaligned, nerve irritation at the level of the brain stem can lead to countless, serious health conditions. Atlas orthogonal care treatment is based on the premise of restoring the body's healthy functions through expertly applied, precise and pain-free adjustments to the patient's spine. Conditions this treats are: headaches, whiplash, trigeminal neuralgia, fibromyalgia and ADHD. After consultation, x-rays, a thorough examination, and treatment plan, many patients are able to regain a pain-free life and return to normal activities without drugs or invasive surgeries. Physiotherapy Physiotherapy is defined as physical therapy that evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of disorders and diseases. A thorough patient medical history and physical exam work to explore the treatment options available. Problems are treated with movement, exercise, manual therapy and the application of electronic and mechanical devices (i.e., ultrasound or weight machines.) Physiotherapy can work to improve range of movement and to keep joints mobile. Spinal Rehabilitation and Exercise Instruction Through exercise and rehabilitation, a program is individually tailored to a patient's specific needs. Certain readily available equipment such as an exercise ball combined with basic low impact movements can help to restore a patient's movement and to restore the range of motion. Through utilizing manual techniques and state-of-the-art equipment, chiropractors can quickly discover and design the right program to stabilize a patient's condition and to improve over time.
