Lots of people face problems with yellow or discolored teeth. There are various causes of discolored teeth such as lack of calcium, smoking, coffee etc. The discolored teeth always give an odd idea about one's personality. If you have discolored teeth, you may also want to get rid of it. Here are some effective as well as safe tips to whiten your teeth.

During recent years, the field of teeth whitening has changed immensely. Now many teeth whitening products are available on the market. Moreover, the dental technology also has been undergoing rapid change.

The safest and quickest way to whiten your teeth is to go to a dentist. Of course, it is not a secret that you should learn from me. But what is important to know is how the dentist plans to whiten your discolored teeth, and how much the teeth whitening will cost.

If you go to the dentist to whiten your teeth, your dentist will make molds of your teeth and send them off to a lab. Within a week your custom fitted teeth whitening mouthpiece would arrive. Now your dentist will apply the plastic teeth whitening molds that are filled with peroxide. After 3-4 visits, you would get quite reasonable white teeth. But the procedure is a bit costly. Whitening your teeth in this way could cost you about $1,000 dollars.

Another method the dentists commonly follow is Laser Bleaching. It is also very popular. It is even a quicker method to whiten your teeth. It mainly consists of the application of a concentrated peroxide gel onto your teeth. But like the former procedure it will also cost you about $1,000 dollars. So, is rather expensive.

But, as always, there are ways to whiten your teeth at home. There are at least three very effective ways to whiten your teeth at home. One of the most common types of home teeth whitening procedures is to use whitening strips. People prefer the teeth whitening strips, because they are easy to apply and very little preparation is necessary.

Another most affordable and most efficient teeth whitening way is to use the bleaching gels. But you should be very careful as to which gel to buy, as well as in the use of the gel. Most of the teeth whitening gels available are almost same. But here are some considerations:

Another thing about the gels, is that usually glycerin is used as a carrying agent for the active ingredients. Glycerin is harmless but when mixed with carbamide peroxide, it is used to draw water out of the enamel in order to speed up the whitening process. It can cause sensitive teeth. So, you should search for the teeth whitening product that does not use a glycerin base.

Another home recipe for whiter teeth is a paste consisting of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, table salt and a dab of toothpaste. You can also use this cheap, safe and effective method to keep your teeth white over time. But one negative is that it has a bad taste.

A recipe for a teeth whitening paste is :
You can make the paste by mixing the following ingredients:
3 Teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide
2 Teaspoons of baking soda
1/2 Teaspoons of table salt
Some toothpaste

Thus, you can have white teeth not only by undergoing clinical treatments, but also through some safe and cheap home recipes. You can follow the method that seems most suitable to you.

Don't try and get movie star white teeth, as that is normally achieved via crowns and veneers. Trying to bleach teeth to that high level of white, would likely to considerable damage to your teeth and gums.

--
Daves writes about Bright White Teeth.
Ellie Phillips, DDS wants you to look inside your mouth and see the truth.

In her book, Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye - a January 2010 release from Greenleaf Book Group Press (www.zellies.com), Dr. Phillips reveals the secrets to keeping your teeth and gums healthy and reducing filling appoints at the dentist. Anyone who wants a healthy oral environment will find the information in this book to be invaluable.

Tooth damage comes from bacterial infections, according to Phillips. If the bacterial infection is not cured the problems will continue, and further dental work and maintenance is needed.

"Traditional care may help you live without pain, but it does not stop the contagious bacterial infection that caused the damage in the first place," Phillips said. The science isn't new.

Many dentists are now evaluating their patients' risk of dental disease and using preventative approach. Using research developed over the last 50 years Phillips has a do-it-yourself, three step system that she has proven time and time again with friends, family and patients. Her goals are to help you have healthy teeth and gums and to make your visits to the dentist a pleasure and not something to fear and avoid.

"Once you are empowered by this simple system, you will most likely find that dental visits will become more rewarding and happier experiences, something you can look forward to without fear, emotion, or worry," she said. "Imagine loving dental visits!"

Prevention is key according to Phillips, but most dentists have fallen into a brush n floss trap blaming patients for their infection chasing the effects of the oral imbalance with fillings.

"Dentists have been trained to believe that prevention is flossing, sugar control, regular dental cleanings, fluoride in the water and oral examinations," she said. "We never discussed such variables as acidic saliva or mentioned tooth damage that occurs directly from acidic foods or drinks in the mouth."

Weak, soft teeth are often an excuse for dental problems but they don't tell WHY the problems are there. Finding out WHY is the key to solving your dental issues. Dentists should be evaluators, they should explore for potential problems and suggest ways to prevent the problems, not mask them with filling after filling. They also need to be fitness trainers, teaching their patients how to keep healthy and avoid problems.

The first step is to balance the chemistry in the mouth. If there is too much acidity in the mouth, the enamel loses minerals, becomes more porous and the tooth breaks down leaving it weaker and more susceptible to cavities. Remineralization builds the enamel back up and works to rebuild the tooth. This occurs naturally, but can be sped up with the use of a natural plant based sugar, xylitol.

"Xylitol stimulates a rapid flow of mineral-rich saliva into the mouth, which quickly raises the pH and bathes teeth in healing minerals," said Phillips. "Xylitol makes the mouth instantly alkaline. The shift helps topical fluoride enter into the enamel, so it's good all around."

Neutralizing the pH in your mouth can be as simple as eating the right foods and removing the acidity left behind by certain drinks, such as citrus juices.

Phillips' system for a healthy oral environment includes:
• Cleaning prerinse
• Toothbrushing
• Rinse (twice) after brushing - once with an antiseptic rinse, then immediately after with a protective rinse

She teaches everyone to take charge of their own dental health.

"I hope that perhaps we can turn dental health into a gift enjoyed by everyone," she said.

--
Dr. Ellie Phillips is a dentist specializing in preventive dental care. Dr. Ellie has years of dental experience caring for geriatric patients, special needs children and adults and the developmentally disabled. Dr. Ellie was in private practice for many years, and particularly enjoyed working with the fearful and phobic.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Dental Insurance plans including Family Dental Plan and Individual Dental Plan are among the important coverage of budget and yet, the most neglected. Not everyone in America has dental benefits at work. Therefore, it is important to avail dental insurance plans to cover the expenses of dental care.

Since no dental insurance covers all types of dental treatment, it is important to choose the dental health plan that provides the widest dental coverage. Family dental plan offers among the widest coverage because it includes some members of the family at lower premium. In order to know which dental plan is the best, it is best to check several of dental coverage.

First, the best dental plan including individual dental plan does not set limits on dental visits or services. This dental care service includes teeth cleaning as among the most common. Inquire for more dental procedures that are covered by your dental insurance. Of course, you need to be realistic. Even when such dental insurance offers free services, there is a specified period to avail these.

Second, ongoing or existing dental problems are covered. For instance, before or upon availing the dental insurance, a tooth needs to be extracted or filled, then it is wise to know whether that dental circumstance is covered. Some dental insurance plans exclude this feature unless they avail exclusive dental packages such as family dental plan.

However, even individual dental plan is featured with this dental benefit. You only have to look for the right dental health care insurance plan because at most, cheap dental plans do not offer such service. Third, the best dental insurance plans include value-added services like orthodontia and cosmetic dentistry. This feature is rare.

Mostly, cosmetic dentistry benefits are available when the dentists are members of dental alliance and dental organizations such as the National Association of Dental Plans. One type of dental insurance is Indemnity, sometimes referred to as private dental insurance since the person can choose his own dentist.

Its coverage includes 50-80% of the expenses covered by the Individual Dental Plan or Family Dental Plan while the remaining percentage is covered by the individual or patient. Indemnity dental plan covers the fee of the dental office on a conventional fee-for-service system. Often, this type of dental health care plan sets deductible amount that varies a lot. Moreover, it limits the amount of services covered within a specified period.

To get more services from individual dental plan, it is best to check whether the dentist whose services you would like to avail is accredited by your dental plan. If the plan is family dental plan, it is even wiser since not only you who will be covered but the entire family as well. Also, having a family dentist has a lot of advantages.

If by any chance, your favorite dentist is not accredited by your dental plan, know how much extra money you need to shell out to keep his services. If you do not want to pay extra charges, better know the names of the dentists who are members or accredited by your dental plan.

Family dental plan are the most affordable dental insurance plan compared to individual dental plan. In the former, not only one person can avail the dental benefits of the plan, but three or four persons more who are a family.

--
Do you need more helpful information about family dental plans?
How to Choose the Right Dentist

Dr. Theodore Ionescu - Elk Grove Dentist
How to Choose the Right Dentist

Trying to find the right dentist for you and your family may seem time consuming and difficult. Many times, in order to avoid the challenges that go along with choosing a dentist, people settle for a dental provider that will take their insurance. Evaluating dentists by a purely "cost" approach often feel unsatisfied with their dental treatment. Many people do not realize that quality dental care comes at a price.

There are two types of dentist to consider in a purely "cost" approach. The participating provider is a dentist who agreed upon dental fees with your dental benefits provider. The nonparticipating provider is a dentist who does not agree upon fees with your carrier. However, he accepts what your insurance pays and asks the patient to invest the difference until his fee for service is paid in full.

The right dentist will provide the following standards of quality care: consideration for your time, safety and comfort, outstanding pain and anxiety management, esthetic results, follow ups, guaranteed work, and an altogether great dental experience. Which of these would you be willing to sacrifice in order to obtain a cheaper bill?

The amount of money you save when you choose the cheaper care is less than you may think. Consider a case in which a patient undergoes $500 worth of treatment (regulated by the dental plan). The insurance pays $400, leaving the patient with a fee of $100. The same treatment at a Non-Participating provider might cost $900, and might leave you with an expense of $500. Spreading that $400 difference over the life of a crown (on average 10 years) equals just $40/year or $3.33/month or 11 cents a day. Usually non-participating providers have the courage to refuse limitations to dental treatment imposed by dental plans and will not cut corners when it comes to quality. Dr. Theodore Ionescu provides comprehensive dental care at a high standard of quality to the community of Elk Grove and surrounding areas.

The next time you face the challenge of choosing a dentist, ask yourself if $3.33/month over the life of your crown is worth choosing a good dentist over a participating provider. Consider the standard of care that you want provided for you and your loved ones, and refuse to settle for less.

To learn more about Dr. Theodore Ionescu, visit his website at http://www.elkgrovedentistry.com to protect yourself from lower standards of care and to find out if Dr. Ionescu is the right dentist for you.

Dr. Theodore Ionescu - Elk Grove Dentist

--
To learn more about Dr. Theodore Ionescu, visit his website at http://www.elkgrovedentistry.com to protect yourself from lower standards of care and to find out if Dr. Ionescu is the right dentist for you.

Elk Grove Dentist

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Dr. Theodore Ionescu - Elk Grove, CA Dentist
Sleep Dentistry

Sometimes anxiety is a feeling that comes hand in hand with a dental appointment. Often patients fear the dentist because they have highly sensitive teeth, personal space issues, a strong gag reflex and much more. They've tried the needles and the pills, but they can never seem to avoid the pain or discomfort that seems inevitable during a visit to the dentist. Thankfully, a revolution in dentistry has changed the way hundreds of people have felt about the dentist.

This new procedure is what dentists call Sleep Dentistry. With sleep dentistry, an anesthesiologist monitors your health and ensures your safety while the dental experts work to provide you the quality dental care you've always wanted but were too afraid of the dentist to get. Unlike conscious sedation, which is achieved through a pill, patients who are fully asleep can go through a dental visit painlessly and comfortably. You rest while the dental experts work. With sleep dentistry, patients with fears of the dentist can finally obtain that smile redesign they wanted or undergo a dental procedure they needed.

The highly skilled team at Dentistry by Design work hard at providing the comfort and quality that dental care should provide without the anxiety that comes with a dental visit. Dr. Ionescu provides comprehensive dental care to the community of Elk Grove with services including sedation dentistry. To find out more, visit his website at http://www.elkgrovedentistry.com and kiss your fears of the dentist goodbye.

Dr. Theodore Ionescu - Elk Grove Dentist

--
The highly skilled team at Dentistry by Design work hard at providing the comfort and quality that dental care should provide without the anxiety that comes with a dental visit.
The Benefits of Veneers

Dr. Ryan Gunn - Cedar City Dentist

The Benefits of Veneers

One of the ways to improve your smile is using veneers or laminates. Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain or resin that bond to the surface of teeth, effectively changing their shape, shade and position. This replaces and restores any of the lost tooth structure as well as improves the cosmetics of your teeth and smile. The two most common types of veneers used by dentists are porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Composite veneers can be built directly inside a patient's mouth, while other veneers are created in dental labs and bonded to the teeth using a type of resin cement at the dentist. Porcelain veneers are generally more expensive, but last longer. Dr. Ryan Gunn of All About Smiles Dentistry offers porcelain veneers at his dental practice, which serves the southern community of Cedar City in Utah.

Your dentist will examine your teeth and determine if veneers are appropriate; sometimes, a simple teeth whitening will be recommended. Veneers require the prepping of teeth before they are fit with veneers, and will permanently alter the teeth being treated. Veneers are often recommended if the patient's teeth are damaged, severely discolored or need reshaping.

Veneers are beneficial for aesthetic and functional purposes. They will protect the surface of a damaged tooth, sometimes even preventing the need for a dental crown which requires a more invasive tooth preparation. Veneers can fix alignment, spacing, chips or cracks in teeth and repair damage done by those who grind their teeth. They will also whiten and brighten teeth. While veneers serve several purposes, it is considered a more conservative cosmetic treatment.

--
For more information, please visit Dr. Ryan Gunn's website at www.cedarcitysmiles.com.
Is an Electric Toothbrush or Manual Toothbrush Better?

Dr. Ryan Gunn - Cedar City Dentist

Is an Electric Toothbrush or Manual Toothbrush Better?

With the continual development of new and improved toothbrushes, people often wonder if they should be using a manual toothbrush or an electric toothbrush. There are several pros and cons to both these types of products. Electric toothbrushes are often expensive, but can last longer and produce better results. Manual toothbrushes are not timed, and may result in a person not brushing his or her teeth long enough. It is recommended you brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day; with a manual brush, this is often cut short. Electric toothbrushes may have bulky, heavy handles; but companies are coming out with ergonomically shaped handles that will ease this problem.

There have been many studies to determine the effectiveness of both these products. Though there are different types of electric and manual toothbrushes, in general it is fair to say that electric brushes are more effective. With the different types of brush heads available, it is possible to choose which one fits your comfort. The rotation of the brush head, which allows for a more thorough cleaning, is also difficult to mimic with a manual toothbrush. Several brushes and brush heads on electric toothbrushes are smaller, allowing better access to hard-to-reach places in the mouth, such as the back teeth. Electric toothbrushes like Sonicare or Oral-B Rechargeable brushes can be expensive; however, many brands are coming out with their own electric brushes that are not as complex but serve the same function and cost an affordable amount. Dr. Ryan Gunn of All About Smiles Dentistry offers a free Oral-B electric toothbrush after the completion of a new patient exam. His dental practice serves the southern Utah community of Cedar City.

What is most important, though, is that you are brushing your teeth. This task is necessary for your oral health; and now there are several different options to help you complete this task. Like other products that differ in what they offer, it is a personal choice which one is most comfortable and best for your personal care.

--
For more information, please visit Dr. Ryan Gunn's website at www.cedarcitysmiles.com.
The right loan products, from the right provider, can open the door to surprising opportunities for your practice.

If you're starting a new dental practice, or upgrading your existing office, there are some very good reasons why you should consider bypassing the local bank and choosing a specialist in dental financing instead. Let's break the benefits into two categories: now and later.

Right now…

The credit market is tight. You never know when you might need to take advantage of a traditional line of credit, or apply for some other type of loan product. Traditional loans, debt and equity need to appear on your practice's balance sheet. However, certain types of partnerships and leases do not. That leaves your credit untouched, and helps ensure that a major investment like a dental practice won't impact you directly.

So, where can you find out how this may apply to your situation, and how to take advantage of the possibilities? Companies like Clarion Financial, which specialize in lending to dentists, are experts in helping their clients discover the best financing options, many of which might not be suggested or even available from the local bank over on Main Street.

"Clarion Financial has the products and solutions to assist dental professionals in each stage of their practice needs," said Todd Bowe, Director of Finance for Clarion Financial, one of just a handful of firms dedicated exclusively to dental practice financing. He says his firm has helped thousands of dentists, many of whom came to Clarion after talking with other lenders first.

And later on…

You'll find that specialists like Clarion Financial offer contracts that can be added to. Need to add a piece of equipment, like a new x-ray, several years into your loan term? No problem, says Clarion's Todd Bowe. Future purchases can be accommodated simply by adding them to your original contract.

Of course, the tax benefits can extend for years after your initial purchases. For this, it's best to talk to another rare specialist: the dental CPA. You may not realize this, but the Academy of Dental CPAs (ADCPA) has been helping dentists find specialists in their areas, and doling out sound advice that's keyed to the specific needs of the dental profession.

Virtually every dentist borrows money. We tend to think of loans as financial burdens. Yet, by getting great advice from a specialist in dental financing, your lender can actually turn out to be a valued partner for many years to come. That can make writing your monthly loan check a lot more pleasant.

--
http://www.clarionfinancial.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
