Allergic Contact Dermatitis- It Can Cause Lot Of Problems-1

If you have contact allergy to a substance, you may develop allergic contact dermatitis when that substance comes in touch with your skin. What is allergic for some people may not be allergic to others. Allergic contact dermatitis develops by contact and not because of eating certain foods, which is the case in atopic dermatitis.

The affected skin may look red, blistered and may be itchy. It may develop after some time of contact with the allergen. After the contact is lost, the condition settles in some hours or days depending upon the allergic reaction. The common allergic substances are nickel, some antibiotics, latex, skin care preparations, hair dye, etc. Let us find out more about allergic contact dermatitis.

How Is It Caused?

When our skin comes in contact with an allergic substance, it reacts and causes dermatitis. The contact time may be short, because the dermatitis does not depend on the contact time but on the allergy causing ability of the substance in you. All of us have different reactions to different materials and this is largely genetically determined. Normally the initial contact does not cause allergy. You may come in contact with a substance many times in a few years. After that you may develop allergy to it. It is all individual and no common guidelines can be given for that. Whenever you see any dermatitis affecting you try to find out if any allergen has caused it.
