Store Layouts and Modular Display SystemsSubmitted by manjeet Fri, 9 May 2008
On the whole, retail stores of the same brand group look more or less, the same. Similar shelving layouts are used as are the same materials and even the same colours. But every so often a store comes along that goes against the grain. One that strives for, no demands, attention as it is so completely unique. Stores like this cannot be emulated, whatever the others attempt to do. And the way of achieving this particular individuality is by altering the way your products are displayed by using modular display systems. A modular display system offers an elegant yet unique way of presenting your products to prospective customers.
The effectiveness of modular display systems in certain brand categories is huge, particularly those ones that are displayed in an industrial environment, giving retailers a challenge to look past the way things have always been, to the way forward and the way it could be. The perfect model for a niche industry that would profit by using modular display systems is the shoe industry. Modern shoe stores have been using the same display methods for years. All the boxes are lined up on shelves with the display shoes sitting on top of the shelf, normally at eye height. The trouble with this method is that there is nothing distinctive or extraordinary about the actual shoe. Modular display systems have the ability to let you attach the shoes to the particular lifestyle they're suited or linked with. For example, you would be able to show basketballs with the athletic shoe display or jewellery and purses with ladies dress shoes. It would benefit retailers greatly if they could display a product to their customers in a completely different way than how they are used viewing it. Looking at something in a different way also enables people to think about them in a different light as well. This in turn would have the effect of increasing the chance that a customer would actually try on and buy a product from you. All of a sudden your particular merchandise becomes more desirable than your competition, even though they are the same product. Modular display systems have the ability to work for any kind of retailer, whether they are auto tyre dealers or jewellers. All it needs is the imagination to be able to look at your products in a different way and figure out how to position them in such a way as to catch your customer's eyes. About the Author
