Steel buildings-A brief story

Submitted by manoj123

The development of new and improved cost effective materials used in building and finishing has made steel buildings a popular option for the architectural world nowadays. Steel buildings today are used in a wide variety of applications ranging from religious facilities to retail storefronts, office buildings and manufacturing facilities. Because steel buildings are more affordable to build and the construction process takes a shorter period of time, they are popular options for many modern building developers.
As seemingly ideal as steel buildings are, there are still a few important factors to take into consideration, as is the case with any construction project. A thorough understanding of the processes and challenges involved will help avoid any potential disasters from occurring.
The benefits of steel buildings are numerous and varied, with most of them having to do with the material used as well as how the structure itself is actually built. The use of metal in steel buildings, as well as the pre-engineered parts gives you the advantage of low cost, quick construction, and durability. Since steel buildings take a much shorter period of time to construct, you can expect to save as much as 60% in comparison to buildings that use traditional materials. Steel buildings can also usually be finished as quickly as 60 to 90 days after the start of the project, which is a far shorter period of time than the 6 months or more that other types of buildings require. Most steel buildings can also be largely maintenance free for up to 30 years or longer.
Aside from the difference in materials used, the process of constructing steel buildings is pretty much the same as it would be for any other type of large building. Just s other buildings, the design stage comes first, in which the different aspects of the structure, including size, shape, walls, number of doors and windows are considered. Preliminary drawings are drafted and a cost estimate is provided to the customer. The next and most important step is placing an engineering deposit to lock in your steel price and begin the manufacturing process.
